Thumbs Up Sign

<p>Has the same grin and eyes as&nbsp;<a href="/grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes/">😄 Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes</a>&nbsp;but with a single, blue bead of sweat, usually over its left eye. Intended to depict nerves or discomfort but commonly used to express a close call, as if saying <em>Whew!</em> and wiping sweat from the forehead.&nbsp;</p>

Smiling Face with Open Mouth and Cold Sweat

<p>A gesture showing the index finger and&nbsp;thumb touching&nbsp;to make an open circle. Represents &ldquo;I&rsquo;m okay&rdquo; or &ldquo;yes, that&rsquo;s correct / good&rdquo;.</p>

<p>In American Sign Language (ASL), the number nine is represented with this gesture. The same hand sign can be seen as offensive in some cultures, including in parts of Europe, the Middle East, and South America.</p>

<p>This can also be used as&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/no-the-ok-hand-is-not-a-symbol-of-white-power/">a&nbsp;symbol of White Supremacy</a>, depending on context.</p>

<p>A yellow face with simple, open eyes and a slight frown. Often conveys a mild degree of concern, disappointment, or sadness, but usually&nbsp;less intensely&nbsp;than <a href="/frowning-face/">☹️&nbsp;Frowning Face</a>.</p>

<p><a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/slightly-frowning-face/">Samsung</a> and <a href="/facebook/2.0/slightly-frowning-face/">Facebook</a> previously included eyebrows.</p>

Slightly Frowning Face

<p>A yellow face with raised eyebrows, enlarged eyes, slight frown, and long nose,&nbsp;indicating&nbsp;it&rsquo;s telling a lie in the manner of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinocchio">Pinocchio</a>. Like that character, Facebook&#39;s design features a wooden nose.&nbsp;</p>

<p>May represent lying, a liar, and other concepts of deceit and dishonesty to varying degrees of intensity. Sometimes used to convey disbelief (e.g., <i>You must be kidding</i>) or feeling abashed (e.g., as if&nbsp;caught in the act of lying).</p>

<p>Commonly used to convey&nbsp;irony, sarcasm, joking, or a sense of goofiness or silliness.&nbsp;Its intent can be&nbsp;similar to the bemused <i>Oh well! </i>of<i> </i><a href="/person-shrugging/">🤷<i>&nbsp;</i>Person Shrugging</a> or the <i>shruggie</i> emoticon, &macr;\_(ツ)_/&macr;.</p>

<p>Microsoft&#39;s design <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/upside-down-face/">previously featured</a> a full-toothed grin.</p>

Upside-Down Face

<p>A yellow face with open eyes, a thin closed-mouth smile, and a single tear falling from one of its eyes. Can be used to express a wide range of emotions and expressions&nbsp;including gratitude, tender happiness, an attempt to look happy when actually sad, or&nbsp;smiling through pain. Can also be a response to something that is bittersweet.</p>

<p>This emoji and <a href="/slightly-smiling-face/">🙂 Slightly Smiling Face</a> have a similar smile, and <a href="/crying-face/">😢 Crying Face</a> and <a href="/crying-cat/">😿 Crying Cat</a> have a similar lone tear. <p>Prior to the release of <a href="/apple/ios-15.4/">iOS 15.4</a> in March 2022, Apple&#39;s design&nbsp;<a href="/apple/ios-11.1/face-with-hand-over-mouth/">featured</a> simple, open eyes, suggesting someone gasping <i>Oh my!</i> in serious surprise, shock, concern, or apology. This same update assigned Apple&#39;s original 🤭 design to <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&#39;s new&nbsp;<a href="/face-with-open-eyes-and-hand-over-mouth/">🫢 Face with Open Eyes and Hand Over Mouth</a> emoji.</p>

<p>The Unicode Consortium approved the following characters as part of <a href="http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode7.0.0/">Unicode 7.0</a>, released on June 16, 2014.&nbsp;Support for these emoji characters rely on updates from platform vendors such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft.</p>

<p>Initially, 250&nbsp;new characters in Unicode 7.0 were approved for emoji presentation, however this was later reduced to 103 <em>Standard Additions</em> which are listed below. The other characters remain part of Unicode, but are not recommended&nbsp;to be included as emojis.</p>

<p>The exception to this was the <a href="/left-speech-bubble/" title="🗨 Left Speech Bubble">Left Speech Bubble</a>, and as such wasn&#39;t initially specified on other platforms as an emoji. A later-accepted&nbsp;<a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/diverse-spy-proposal/">proposal</a>&nbsp;updated this.</p>

<p>Select LG devices use their own emoji images which are different to those used on other Android devices.</p>

<p>Prior to 2016 all LG devices carried LG&rsquo;s own emoji designs. However, LG phones sold from 2017 between and early 2021 used the <a href="/google/">stock Android emoji set</a> from Google.</p>

<p>This changed in early 2021 with the rollout of Android 11 to <a href="/lg/velvet/">LG Velvet devices</a>, reviving and expanding the LG emoji set to include support for up to 2019&#39;s <a href="/emoji-12.0/">Emoji 12.0</a> recommendations.</p>

LG Emoji List [Updated: September 2021]

<p>From early 2021, Android 11 began rollout out for LG Velvet devices in select regions.</p>

<p>Alongside Android 11 came the first update LG&#39;s emoji set <a href="/lg/g5/">since early 2016</a>, which reintroduced the vendor&rsquo;s own emoji set to eligible devices. From 2017 until this update, LG devices used the <a href="/google/">stock Android emoji set</a> from Google.</p>

<p>This update introduced emojis from 2016&#39;s <a href="/people/">Emoji 3.0</a>&nbsp;up to 2019&rsquo;s <a href="/emoji-12.0/">Emoji 12.0</a> to the LG emoji set. It also revised many emoji designs within the <a href="/people/">😃 Smileys &amp; People</a> category.</p>
