Double Curly Loop

A mobile phone (cell phone), as used to text, check social media, or take <a href="/selfie/">selfies</a>. Depicted as a black or gray smartphone with a generic blue screen or multicolored app icons. Commonly used for various content concerning mobile phones, technology, and communication.

The designs from Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Samsung resemble phones offered by their respective companies, e.g., iPhone. WhatsApp&rsquo;s design features a night sky as its wallpaper, displaying the time as 9:34.

<a href="/au-kddi/type-a-2/mobile-phone/">Early designs</a> for the mobile phone emoji from au by KDDI resembled a traditional&nbsp;<a href="/telephone-receiver/">telephone receiver</a>, and vice versa, before having their codepoints swapped in later releases.

Mobile Phone

A <a href="/mobile-phone/">mobile phone</a> (cell phone) with a <a href="/right-arrow/">rightward&nbsp;arrow</a> pointed at it from the left. Intended to indicate an incoming call or message, but used to represent mobile phones, technology, and communication more generally.

Arrow color varies, but is often blue. Vendors implement the same design as <a href="/mobile-phone/">📱 Mobile Phone</a>.

Mobile Phone with Rightwards Arrow at Left

A white piece of paper, curled up at the bottom to the left or right, with text printed on it, as a business letter. Commonly used for content concerning various types of documents and writing.

The double helix of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA">DNA</a>, the genetic blueprint for life. Color and orientation vary across platforms, but positioned at a 45&deg; angle and in multiple, bright colors to represent the molecule&rsquo;s spiraling, ladder-like structure.

May be used for various content concerning biology, genetics, and science more generally. May also be used for various content concerning literal or figurative life and evolution.

DNA Double Helix

No Mobile Phones

A sign indicating that mobile phones should be turned off. Used in&nbsp;situations such as a cinema or live performance.

Displayed as a mobile phone with the word OFF. Previously shown with a <a href="/cross-mark/" title="❌ Cross Mark">cross</a> instead of the word OFF on <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/mobile-phone-off/" title="📴 Mobile Phone Off on Microsoft Windows 10">Windows</a>.

Mobile Phone Off

The symbol for infinity enclosed within a circle or square.

Originally encoded as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid-free_paper">symbol to represent&nbsp;acid-free paper</a>, this <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Permanent_Paper_Law">permanent paper sign</a>&nbsp;was later given emoji presentation to form an infinity emoji.

May also be used by members of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_rights_movement">autism rights movement</a> to represent&nbsp;neurodiversity.

Just like a regular dash (hyphen), sometimes used in Asian character sets in the same way a – or — is used in latin character sets.

Wavy Dash

A curled loop, which is shown in black on most platforms. Previously displayed as <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/curly-loop/">a blue ribbon</a> on Samsung devices.

Similar to the <a href="/double-curly-loop/" title="➿ Double Curly Loop">Double Curly Loop</a> but with only a single loop.

Curly Loop

Used in traditional Japanese music such as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noh">Noh</a> or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renga">Renga</a>,&nbsp;to indicate the start of a song. More specifically, the part alternation mark is displayed&nbsp;where the singer&rsquo;s part begins.

This symbol looks sort of like a lopsided capital M;&nbsp;or a <a href="/roller-coaster/" title="🎢 Roller Coaster">rollercoaster</a> track showing a dip, and then a drop off to the right.

Part Alternation Mark

A glyph that is used for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawaii">kawaii</a> in Japan, resembling&nbsp;the shape of a&nbsp;flower.

Google&#39;s design previously resembled a <a href="/google/android-4.4/diamond-with-a-dot/">flower</a>, while Samsung&#39;s <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/diamond-with-a-dot/">previously displayed</a> a white symbol on a blue square.
