Built in 1957, the design of the Tokyo Tower &nbsp;was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, <a href="/de/flagge-frankreich/" title="🇫🇷 Flag For France">France</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;may be confused for it due to the small size of the emoji.&nbsp;A previous Samsung design also added to this confusion as it was colored grey instead of red and white.

Tokyo Tower

Tanabata-Baum

A Japanese <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadomatsu">kadomatsu</a>, composed of pine leaves and bamboo shoots. Traditionally placed outside homes in Japan around the New Year to welcome spirits for a plentiful, happy year ahead.

Depicted as three shoots of <a href="/de/tanabata-baum/">bamboo</a>, arranged vertically at different heights in a wooden container, arrayed with pine leaves.

Often used to represent various plants or as a green accent color.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s kadomatsu is adorned with red berries, as is Facebook&rsquo;s, which also includes pink <a href="/de/kirschbl%C3%BCte/">cherry blossoms</a>.

Briefkasten

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moai">moai</a>, one of the famed, giant stone statues of human figures&nbsp;on Easter Island. Depicted as a gray&nbsp;stone carving of a stylized human head with a prominent brow and nose, most often facing left.

Sometimes used for various idiosyncratic purposes, such as conveying a stoic, deadpan, or silly expression. For example, this emoji is often used to represent various &quot;sigma&quot; or &quot;chad&quot; memes due to its chiselled emotionaless features.

Its official Unicode name of Moyai&nbsp;and inclusion in early Japanese emoji sets, such as from au by KDDI, suggest&nbsp;the emoji may represent the <a href="http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g1066456-d1953259-Reviews-Moyai_Statue-Shibuya_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html">Moyai Statue</a> near Shibuya Station in Tokyo, Japan; previous designs from <a href="/de/google/android-4.3/statue/">Google</a> and <a href="/de/microsoft/windows-8.0/statue/">Microsoft</a>&nbsp;resemble the Tokyo statue. This was one of the few emojis <a href="/de/apple/ios-5.0/shibuya/" title=" Shibuya on Apple iOS 5.0">available</a> in Apple iOS 6, that did not remain in future iOS or macOS releases. Despite this, it continues to be supported by&nbsp;<a href="/de/twitter/">Twemoji</a>.
