Apple&rsquo;s design <a href="/apple/ios-4.0/spiral-shell/">previously</a> resembled a clam shell, <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/spiral-shell/">Microsoft&rsquo;s</a> a snail shell. <a href="/google/android-7.0/spiral-shell/">Google&rsquo;s</a> was previously blue.

A wave of water, as breaks at the beach. Depicted as a blue wave with a foamy, white crest, curling to the right.

Merperson

A bottle of lotion for the skin, such as moisturizer or sunscreen (sunblock). May be used for other hygienic liquids, including shampoo and <a href="/bathtub/">body wash</a>, as well as beauty products.

Appearance varies across platforms, but commonly depicted in white and gold colors. Some platforms, like Apple and Twitter, feature a bottle with a pump while others show a cylinder with a cap.

Lotion Bottle

A squirt gun (water pistol), as used to <a href="/sweat-droplets/">spray water</a> for fun.

On major platforms, depicted as a green or orange toy gun with an orange tip and barrel pointed left.&nbsp;Google&nbsp;and Facebook&rsquo;s designs include mounted reservoirs.

Originally depicted as a classic handgun, as a revolver or other pistol. In 2016, <a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/apple-and-the-gun-emoji/">Apple switched its design</a> from weapon&nbsp;to toy; other major vendors followed suit by 2018. Deprecated emoji sets or smaller platforms still display the emoji as a handgun.

Microsoft <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/pistol/">initially displayed</a> the emoji as a toy ray gun before switching to a revolver, then squirt gun. Google <a href="/google/android-4.4/pistol/">once featured</a> a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blunderbuss">blunderbuss</a>.

Underwear or swim briefs. The swimming variety are often called &#39;Speedos&#39; after the brand. This emoji is shown in different colors and styles across platforms. Some platforms depict this emoji as tighty whities with a visible fly, while others use a less specific design.
