Originally used for the representation of blood donation, and displayed with blood in the barrel. In 2021 many platforms are switching to a more general-purpose empty syringe.&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-7.0/syringe/">Google</a> and <a href="/facebook/1.0/syringe/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> designs previously featured green liquids.

Syringe

A place where people are taken to receive medical care. This hospital has a large red cross on the front, often used as a symbol for health care.

Underwear or swim briefs. The swimming variety are often called &#39;Speedos&#39; after the brand. This emoji is shown in different colors and styles across platforms. Some platforms depict this emoji as tighty whities with a visible fly, while others use a less specific design.

Splashing Sweat Symbol

A capsule of medicine. Generally depicted at a 45&deg; angle, half red, half yellow. Commonly used for content concerning health, medicine, and related professions as well various types of drugs.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/pill/">previously featured</a> a blue-and-white capsule with two round pills, one orange, the other white. <a href="/google/android-6.0.1/pill/">Google</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/pill/">Microsoft&rsquo;s</a> designs previously featured blue in their capsules.

Pill

An adhesive bandage used for first aid. Sometimes called a Band-Aid or band aid&nbsp;after the trademarked product. Sometimes called a plaster.

This has expanded in some instances to starting any word with the letter B, or more specifically, this emoji which makes it more&nbsp;🅱️lear that a letter has been replaced.

May be used for content concerning cooking and food preparation, but often represents various senses of cutting and stabbing.&nbsp;Its Unicode name, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_kitchen_knife">Hocho</a>, means &ldquo;kitchen knife&rdquo; in Japanese and refers to a variety of knives used in <a href="/flag-japan/">Japan</a>.

A barrel for transporting bulk liquids, such as oil. Generally depicted as a red or blue metal drum with holes or a stopper on its lid. Commonly used for various content concerning petroleum or hazardous waste.

Google&rsquo;s design <a href="/google/android-8.0/oil-drum/">previously&nbsp;displayed</a>&nbsp;a yellow oil drop symbol, while&nbsp;Samsung&#39;s design <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/oil-drum/">previously&nbsp;featured</a> a yellow hazard sign.

Oil Drum

A mosquito, a type of bloodsucking fly. Depicted as a brown or black mosquito on its six, long legs, with wings, long abdomen, and needle-like mouth. Variously shown from above or facing left.

May be used to represent various insects, other <a href="/bug/">bugs</a> and bug bites, and insect-borne diseases (e.g., <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/malaria/index.html">malaria</a>). May also be used for metaphorical pests.

Facebook&rsquo;s mosquito&nbsp;has a red abdomen, as if filled with <a href="/drop-of-blood/">blood</a>.
