Unicode 1.1 were pre-dated emoji inclusion in Unicode by 17 years, and included many characters primarily sourced from the Zapf Dingbats font.

The following characters were added to Unicode in 1993 and many were given emoji presentation status in the years 2010-2015.

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/es/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/es/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in 2014, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms. TouchWiz 5.1 launched on the&nbsp;Samsung Galaxy S5 running&nbsp;Android 4.4.2.

The TouchWiz 5.1&nbsp;emojis are generally the same as those provided on the Galaxy S4 (TouchWiz Nature UX 2), with only a few <a href="/es/c%C3%A1mara-con-flash/">additions</a> and <a href="/es/mujer-bailando/">modifications</a>.
