First Quarter Moon Face

A first quarter moon with a human face, as the Man in the Moon. Generally depicts a wide, golden crescent moon with the profile of a slightly smiling human face with a nose, facing left.

May be used to represent the moon more generally and saying good night.

WhatsApp’s eyes are looking back. Facebook’s moon is silver but was previously golden; Twitter’s was previously silver. Google’s eyes were previously closed.

First Quarter Moon Face was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name "First Quarter Moon with Face" and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
