This update to Google&#39;s Noto Color Emoji set introduced support for 2023&#39;s <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendations.

Android 4.4 was the first release from Google to include support for color emoji designs&nbsp;and introduced a new bloblike gumdrop character which is used for various gestures and smileys.

This set of emojis was created by Google and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.ic4design.com/top/google_emoji.html">IC4 Design</a>&nbsp;and first shown <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2013/05/15/google-hangouts-messaging-app/">at Google I/O</a> on May 15, 2013.
