Google emoji images are used on most Android devices, Gmail Web Interface, Google Meet, and ChromeOS. These are provided as part of the&nbsp;<a href="https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-emoji">Noto Emoji</a> project. These images are also used for&nbsp;<a href="/slack/">Slack</a> on non-Apple platforms including Windows, Linux, and Android.

Gboard also includes an <a href="/emoji-kitchen/">emoji mashup feature known as&nbsp;Emoji Kitchen </a>which allows two emojis to be combined into a sticker. Thousands of combinations are available, using Gboard for Android and Google search.

The Google Noto Color Emoji set is used as the default emoji set on mobile devices manufactured by the likes of&nbsp;Xiaomi,&nbsp;Oppo,&nbsp;Huawei, Sony,&nbsp;and of course Google.

There are also two additional Noto Emoji variants: the&nbsp;minimalist <a href="https://emojipedia.org/noto-emoji/">Noto Emoji font</a>, and an <a href="https://emojipedia.org/animated-noto-color-emoji/">animated subset of Noto Color Emoji</a> designs used by the Messages by Google mobile app.

This update to Google&#39;s Noto Color Emoji set introduced support for 2024&#39;s <a href="/emoji-16.0">Emoji 16.0</a> recommendations. It also tweaked the shading and outlines for most <a href="/gestures">gesture</a>&nbsp;emoji designs.

First made available via Google&#39;s <a href="https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Color+Emoji">Noto Color Emoji</a> font page on 2024-09-10, this update is expected to be released progressively across different Google platforms such as Chrome OS, Gmail, YouTube, and various Android devices.

This update to Google&#39;s Noto Color Emoji set introduced support for 2023&#39;s <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendations.

Additionally, the family emojis have been changed to have a silhouette icon design, matching the new non-gender-specifying family emojis from&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a>.

First made available via Github on 2023-11-17, this update was released progressively across different Google platforms such as Chrome OS, Gmail, YouTube, and various Android devices.

First released as a&nbsp;color vector&nbsp;font file on 2022-09-14, this update to Google&#39;s Noto Color Emoji set introduced support for <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a> emoji such as <a href="https://emojipedia.org/shaking-face/">Shaking Face</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/pink-heart/">Pink Heart</a>.

This update also included minor revisions to select emoji designs,&nbsp;including all of the hand gestures.

The update was released progressively across different Google platforms such as Chrome OS, Gmail, and YouTube between September 2022 and their release within&nbsp;Android 13 in March 2023.&nbsp;

First made available via as a&nbsp;Developer Preview on&nbsp;2021-10-27, Android 12L was&nbsp;the first vendor update to&nbsp;include support for 2021&rsquo;s <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> recommendations. Devices running Android 12&nbsp;also began to receive this emoji update via subsequent security updates.&nbsp;

Released to eligible Pixel devices on&nbsp;2021-10-04, Android 12.0 updated the designs of almost one thousand previously available emojis.&nbsp;

Google Android 8.1 was released on December 5, 2017 without a gradual rollout to supported devices. This release <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/google-fixes-burger-emoji/">fixes the burger emoji issue</a> from&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-8.0/">Android 8.0</a>, as well as the emojis for <a href="/cheese-wedge/">cheese</a>, <a href="/beer-mug/">beer</a>, and <a href="/clinking-beer-mugs/">beers</a>.

Android 8.1

Android 8.0 &quot;Oreo&quot; was released on August 21, 2017. This update included a complete redesign of every emoji, including a transformation of all &quot;blob&quot;&nbsp;smileys into a more common circle shape.
