Windows 10 April 2018 Update (commonly referred to as&nbsp;Spring Creators Update&nbsp;prior to release) was released on April 30, 2018 and includes a number of <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-april-2018-update/changed/">changes</a> to emoji appearance mainly to bring emoji design in line with other platforms. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is the major release that followed <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-creators-update/">Windows 10 Creators Update</a>. Released on October 17, 2017 this update added support for <a href="/emoji-5.0/">Emoji 5.0</a> and changed the appearance of a number of existing emojis.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version&nbsp;1607), aka &quot;Emojiversary Update&quot;&nbsp;was <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/06/29/windows-10-anniversary-update-available-august-2/">released</a> on August 2, 2016 and&nbsp;included&nbsp;a complete redesign of every emoji in the Segoe UI Emoji font.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Windows 8 came with support for black and white emoji images out of the box, as part of the new Segoe UI Emoji font. This font was also&nbsp;<a href="http://www.istartedsomething.com/20120818/microsoft-backports-windows-8-emoji-for-segoe-ui-symbol-to-windows-7/">backported</a> for Windows 7 users, alongside the release of Windows 8.
