Apple, Microsoft, WhatsApp, Samsung, and Facebook&rsquo;s designs feature the full animal; Google and Twitter&#39;s&nbsp;designs feature a head with a short mane and black muzzle. Zebra

Apple, Google, Microsoft, WhatsApp, and Facebook&rsquo;s designs feature the full animal, while&nbsp;Samsung&nbsp;and Twitter&rsquo;s designs feature only the&nbsp;rhinoceros&#39; head.

Wereldbol Met Europa-Afrika

Often used with an affectionate tone. Does not have a full-bodied lion emoji counterpart. A lion is represented as <a href="/nl/leeuw-sterrenbeeld/">♌ Leo</a> in the Western zodiac.

Available as an Apple&nbsp;<a href="/nl/animoji/">Animoji</a>.

Apple&#39;s lion <a href="/nl/apple/ios-10.2/leeuw/">previously</a> featured a timid-looking expression.

Leeuw

A tiger, a large cat with an orange coat and black stripes. Depicted in full profile on all fours facing left, with a long tail, its distinctive stripes, and, on some platforms, white patches.

Tijger

A leopard, a large cat with a yellowish-brown coat and black-and-gold spots. Depicted in full profile on all fours facing left, with a long tail and its distinctive&nbsp;pattern.

Luipaard

A llama, a long-necked, <a href="/nl/dromedaris/">camel</a>-like animal, native to South America and&nbsp;used for transport and wool. Depicted as a shaggy white, light-brown, or multicolored llama in full profile on all fours facing left.

May be used to represent an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpaca">alpaca</a> or related animals.

Lama

<a href="/nl/google/android-7.0/olifant/">Google</a> and <a href="/nl/facebook/2.0/olifant/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> elephants were previously blue in color. Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/nl/samsung/experience-9.0/olifant/">previously</a> featured a cartoon-styled elephant with a red blanket&nbsp;on its back and blowing a <a href="/nl/rood-hart/">red heart</a> from its trunk.

Olifant

A gorilla, the powerful, black-haired great ape. Variously depicted in full profile on all fours facing left or as a friendly, cartoon-styled gorilla face looking straight ahead.

Most platforms&#39; designs&nbsp;depict&nbsp;a full gorilla, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorilla">silverback</a>, with strong shoulders and reddish forehead. Twitter&rsquo;s designs feature a black and gray gorilla face with a neutral expression and prominent forehead and jaw.

<a href="/nl/google/android-8.0/gorilla/">Google</a>, <a href="/nl/samsung/one-ui-1.0/gorilla/">Samsung</a>, and <a href="/nl/facebook/2.0/gorilla/">Facebook&rsquo;s&nbsp;</a>designs&nbsp;previously featured only a gorilla face.

This emoji is considered <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/how-the-monkey-emoji-is-racist/">racist in some contexts</a>, particularly when used to disparage, insult, and abuse people with dark skin, especially Black people.

Gorilla

A monkey, a small primate with long limbs and tail for climbing trees. Generally depicted as a cartoon-styled, brown monkey with a cheeky facial expression, shown in full profile facing&nbsp;left, sitting on its hind legs with a long, curled tail and round ears.

A deer, a fleet-footed, hoofed mammal whose males (bucks, stags) generally have antlers. Variously depicted as a light-brown deer in full profile on all fours facing left or as a&nbsp;deer face looking straight head;&nbsp;both depictions feature large, branched antlers.

May be used to represent elk, moose, antelope, or reindeer, especially in connection with <a href="/nl/christmas/">Christmas</a>.&nbsp;Most platforms display a deer in full profile.&nbsp;Twitter&nbsp;shows a deer face.

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/nl/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/nl/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in 2014, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms. Samsung Emoji List — Emojis for Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note [Updated 2019]

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 28 March 2024, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.1&nbsp;revised a considerable number of previously available emoji designs.

Many emojis had subtle modifications made to their outline, contrast, and shading, including the majority of&nbsp;<a href="/nl/smileys-en-mensen">🧑 People</a> emojis. Meanwhile, many emojis within&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="/nl/reizen-en-plaatsen">🚀 Travel &amp; Places</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/nl/voorwerpen">💡 Objects</a> categories were given more extensive redesigns.&nbsp;

One UI 6.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 30&nbsp;October 2023, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.0&nbsp;featured a completely new design style for the majority of the vendor&#39;s emojis.

All smiley, food, and animal emoji designs have been revised in this update, as have the majority of the people emojis.

This is the most significant revision of the vendor&#39;s emoji set since&nbsp;February 2018&#39;s&nbsp;Experience 9.0 update, which introduced a significant number of design revisions that were consistent with those used on other platforms.

This update also introduced support for the 2023 Emoji 15.1 recommendation list.

One UI 6.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung&#39;s One UI 5.0 provided support for both&nbsp;2021&#39;s <a href="/nl/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and 2022&#39;s <a href="/nl/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for <a href="/nl/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;emojis provided via <a href="/nl/google/">Google&#39;s emoji design set</a>. This was due to Google&#39;s expansion of&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>&nbsp;in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing <a href="/nl/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;designs in Samsung&#39;s emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.

One UI 5.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from&nbsp;mid-January 2022, this small emoji updated changed the design of Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="/nl/sterretjes/">✨ Sparkles</a> emoji to be more consistent&nbsp;with those of other emoji vendors.

Additional devices received this emoji update alongside Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;One UI 4.1 update, which was made widely available in March 2022 after initially debuting with the Galaxy S22 series of devices a month earlier.

One UI 4.0 January 2022

Beginning its rollout on&nbsp;2021-11-15 for Samsung&#39;s Galaxy S21 series of mobile devices,&nbsp;Samsung One UI 4.0&nbsp;added support for <a href="/nl/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.

One UI 4.0

Beginning its rollout in late July 2021 to select Samsung&rsquo;s Galaxy Z devices, One UI 3.1.1 updated a small number of existing emoji designs.

Select devices running Samsung One UI 3.1 were also given this emoji update&nbsp;via a firmware update in August 2021.
