In 2020, this emoji became <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/spread-of-the-coronavirus-emoji/">primarily used</a> in reference to <a href="/no/coronavirus/">Coronavirus / COVID-19</a>.

Fjes Med Munnbind

A yellow face with raised or furrowed eyebrows and a <a href="/no/termometer/">thermometer</a> in its mouth. Often depicted with red cheeks, as if feverish. May be used to represent a <a href="/no/sykehus/">hospital</a> patient or person with a cold or flu.

Differs from other smileys conveying illness, such as <a href="/no/kvalm/">🤢 Nauseated Face</a> (appearing as if it&#39;s&nbsp;going to vomit) or <a href="/no/bandasjert-hode/">🤕 Face With Head-Bandage</a> (physical injury).

Can also be used figuratively to express finding something &#39;hot&#39;, i.e. attractive or arousing.

Fjes Med Termometer

A yellow face with a half-frown and white bandage wrapped around its head, often depicted partially over one eye. May represent physical injury or pain but also emotional hurting, sometimes for ironic effect.

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes spewing bright-green vomit. May represent physical illness or disgust, more intensely so than <a href="/no/kvalm/">🤢 Nauseated Face</a>.

Kaster Opp

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes sneezing or blowing its nose into a white tissue, as if from a cold or allergies. Often depicted with a crumpled-looking mouth.

May also represent someone in an emotional state wiping away tears, as at a <a href="/no/bryllup/">wedding</a>.

A person working in the field of health care. This may be used to represent a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

A construction worker wearing a hard-hat (safety helmet). Has a high visibility vest or <a href="/no/hammer/" title="🔨 Hammer">hammer</a> in some variations.

Some platforms display a green cross on the <a href="/no/hjelm-med-hvitt-kors/" title="⛑ Helmet With White Cross">helmet</a> which is used in Japan as a safety reminder in <a href="/no/anleggsarbeid/" title="🚧 Construction Sign">construction</a> zones. Color, shape, and position vary across platforms.&nbsp;Commonly used to represent bacteria, viruses, and germs and disease more generally.

In 2020, this emoji became <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/spread-of-the-coronavirus-emoji/">primarily used</a> in reference to <a href="/no/coronavirus/">Coronavirus / COVID-19</a>.

Apple&#39;s version of this emoji most closely represents a virus, while others from&nbsp;Samsung, Microsoft and&nbsp;Twitter&nbsp;appear as bright green bacteria. Two masks often used on maps to indicate a theatre, these originate in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatre_of_ancient_Greece">Greek Theatre</a> as masks of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragicomedy#mediaviewer/File:TragicComicMasksHadriansVillamosaic.jpg">tragedy and comedy</a>.

Commonly used for content concerning health, medicine, and related professions as well as various senses of needles, drugs, tattoos, blood, or more recently&nbsp;&ndash; <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/vaccine-emoji-comes-to-life/">coronavirus vaccination</a>.

Originally used for the representation of blood donation, and displayed with blood in the barrel. In 2021 many platforms are switching to a more general-purpose empty syringe.&nbsp;<a href="/no/google/android-7.0/spr%C3%B8yte/">Google</a> and <a href="/no/facebook/1.0/spr%C3%B8yte/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> designs previously featured green liquids.

Sprøyte

A capsule of medicine. Generally depicted at a 45&deg; angle, half red, half yellow. Commonly used for content concerning health, medicine, and related professions as well various types of drugs.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/no/samsung/experience-9.0/pille/">previously featured</a> a blue-and-white capsule with two round pills, one orange, the other white. <a href="/no/google/android-6.0.1/pille/">Google</a> and <a href="/no/microsoft/windows-10/pille/">Microsoft&rsquo;s</a> designs previously featured blue in their capsules.

Pille

A basic crutch made of metal and rubber.

Krykke

A stethoscope with a round resonator and two earpieces. Shown in black, blue, green, or red, depending on the platform.
