Custom emoji set used on Samsung phones and tablets.

A small update to the much larger Unicode 6.0. Unicode 6.1 included 13 new emoji characters.

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-2.0">2014</a>, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms. Note:&nbsp;<a href="/whatsapp/">WhatsApp</a>, <a href="/twitter/">Twitter</a>, and <a href="/facebook/">Facebook</a> have their&nbsp;own emoji designs&nbsp;which are used&nbsp;instead of Google or Samsung emojis in their respective apps on Android devices.

Samsung Emoji List — Emojis for Samsung Galaxy, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z Fold [Updated 2024]

First released in July 2024 for Samsung&#39;s Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 devices, the&nbsp;One UI 6.1.1&nbsp;began its broader rollout in early September 2024.

This update revised the designs of every&nbsp;<a href="/flags">🎌 Flag</a> emoji and various emojis from the&nbsp;<a href="/objects">💡 Objects</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/symbols">💕 Symbols</a>&nbsp;categories.

One UI 6.1.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 28 March 2024, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.1&nbsp;revised a considerable number of previously available emoji designs.

Many emojis had subtle modifications made to their outline, contrast, and shading, including the majority of&nbsp;<a href="/people">🧑 People</a> emojis. Meanwhile, many emojis within&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="/travel-places">🚀 Travel &amp; Places</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/objects">💡 Objects</a> categories were given more extensive redesigns.&nbsp;

One UI 6.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 30&nbsp;October 2023, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.0&nbsp;featured a completely new design style for the majority of the vendor&#39;s emojis.

All smiley, food, and animal emoji designs have been revised in this update, as have the majority of the people emojis.

This is the most significant revision of the vendor&#39;s emoji set since&nbsp;February 2018&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/samsung/experience-9.0">Experience 9.0</a> update, which introduced a significant number of design revisions that were consistent with those used on other platforms.

This update also introduced support for the 2023 <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendation list.

One UI 6.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung&#39;s One UI 5.0 provided support for both&nbsp;2021&#39;s <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and 2022&#39;s <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;emojis provided via <a href="/google/">Google&#39;s emoji design set</a>. This was due to Google&#39;s expansion of&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>&nbsp;in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;designs in Samsung&#39;s emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.

One UI 5.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from&nbsp;mid-January 2022, this small emoji updated changed the design of Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="/sparkles/">✨ Sparkles</a> emoji to be more consistent&nbsp;with those of other emoji vendors.

Additional devices received this emoji update alongside Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;One UI 4.1 update, which was made widely available in March 2022 after initially debuting with the Galaxy S22 series of devices a month earlier.

One UI 4.0 January 2022

Beginning its rollout on&nbsp;2021-11-15 for Samsung&#39;s Galaxy S21 series of mobile devices,&nbsp;Samsung One UI 4.0&nbsp;added support for <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.

One UI 4.0

Beginning its rollout in late July 2021 to select Samsung&rsquo;s Galaxy Z devices, One UI 3.1.1 updated a small number of existing emoji designs.

Select devices running Samsung One UI 3.1 were also given this emoji update&nbsp;via a firmware update in August 2021.

One UI 3.1.1

Released alongside the Galaxy Note 20 on&nbsp;2020-08-21, Samsung One UI 2.5 added support for <a href="/emoji-13.0/">Emoji 13.0</a>. One UI 2.5

Samsung One UI 2.0&nbsp;began rolling out to users in February 2020.&nbsp;The first major devices to launch with this release were the&nbsp;Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Z Flip.

This update provides support to the 136 gender-neutral person&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/emoji-zwj-sequences-three-letters-many-possibilities">ZWJ sequences </a>recommended in <a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>. However, the previously-released&nbsp;<a href="/woman/">👩 Woman&nbsp;</a>variant designs are displayed&nbsp;instead of a new gender-neutral design.

The 30 people holding hands emojis recommended&nbsp;in <a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>&nbsp;are absent from this update.

One UI 2.1

Samsung One UI 2.0&nbsp;began rolling out to users in January 2020.

This update corrected a <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/samsungs-emoji-adventures/">long-standing design oddity</a> in the Samsung emoji set, where the design for <a href="/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-u/">🇺 Regional Indicator Symbol Letter U</a>&nbsp;displayed the letter V and <a href="/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-v/">🇻 Regional Indicator Symbol Letter V</a>&nbsp;displayed the letter U.

One UI 2.0

Samsung One UI 1.5 began rolling out to users in August 2019.&nbsp;The first major device&nbsp;to launch with this release was the Samsung&nbsp;Galaxy Note 10.

One UI 1.5

Samsung One UI 1.0 (formerly known as Samsung Experience 10.0) began rolling out to users in&nbsp;December&nbsp;2018. The first major devices to launch with this release were the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, announced on February 20, 2019.

One UI 1.0

Experience 9.5

An updated set of emojis that began appearing for users with newer builds of&nbsp;Samsung Experience 9.0 since&nbsp;April 2018. Experience 9.1

Samsung Experience 9.0 began rolling out to most users from the week of February 12, 2018 alongside the Samsung Android Oreo (Android 8.0)&nbsp;release.&nbsp;First&nbsp;<a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-experience-9-0-beta-now-available">released as a beta</a> in November 2017, this&nbsp;comes standard on the new Samsung Galaxy S9.

Notable updates in this release include yellow becoming the default color for emoji skin tone (instead of pale white)&nbsp;and designs that are more consistent with those used on other platforms such as&nbsp;the <a href="/face-with-rolling-eyes/">rolling eyes emoji</a>.

Experience 9.0

Samsung Experience 8.5 was released alongside&nbsp;released the&nbsp;Galaxy Note 8 in September 2017 running Android 7.0 Marshmallow.

Experience 8.5

Samsung Experience 8.1&nbsp;was released to the public on 21&nbsp;April 2017 alongside the Galaxy S8. This update fixed&nbsp;the design for the <a href="/crossed-fingers/">Crossed Fingers emoji</a>, and included other minor design updates.

This update ran&nbsp;Android Nougat 7.0: the same releases as the original Samsung Nougat update. This version also&nbsp;contains the same number of emojis as the previous release.

Experience 8.1

Samsung Experience 8.0 was released on&nbsp;January 19, 2017 and&nbsp;brought compatibility with <a href="/emoji-4.0/">Emoji 4.0</a>, with new professions added, gendered emojis, and the rainbow flag.

A limited range of Samsung devices started <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-begins-rollout-of-android-7-0-nougat">receiving</a> this update from January 19, 2017.

Experience 8.0

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recieved an update on 22 September 2016, commonly referred to&nbsp;as the &quot;green battery update&quot;.

TouchWiz 7.1

Galaxy Note 7 launched with TouchWiz 7.0&nbsp;(aka TouchWiz&nbsp;Grace UX 7.0) running Android 6.0.1 on&nbsp;August 19, 2016.&nbsp;This update&nbsp;contained&nbsp;<a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.0/new/">257 new flag emojis</a> and changes to a number of designs including returning the&nbsp;<a href="/red-heart/">❤️&nbsp;Red Heart</a> emoji to a red color.

A number of emojis were <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.0/removed/">removed</a> in this release including&nbsp;<a href="/latin-cross/">✝️ Latin Cross</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/star-and-crescent/">☪️ Star and Crescent</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/double-exclamation-mark/">‼️ Double Exclamation Mark</a>. Others that were removed were either non-RGI (non-standard) emojis (such as <a href="/lips/">Lips</a>&nbsp;and <a href="/black-star/">Black Star</a>), or returned in a later release&nbsp;(<a href="/crossed-flags/">🎌&nbsp;Crossed Flags</a>).

TouchWiz 7.0

Touchwiz 6.0 launched with Samsung&#39;s release of Galaxy S7 running&nbsp;Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Touchwiz 6.0

TouchWiz 5.1 launched on the&nbsp;Samsung Galaxy S5 running&nbsp;Android 4.4.2.

The TouchWiz 5.1&nbsp;emojis are generally the same as those provided on the Galaxy S4 (TouchWiz Nature UX 2), with only a few <a href="/camera-with-flash/">additions</a> and <a href="/woman-dancing/">modifications</a>.
