On platforms such as TikTok an alternative&nbsp;meaning of this emoji is to represent &#39;giving head&#39; (<a href="/nsfw/">NSFW meanings</a>).

A smiling yellow face with glasses, often with teeth showing, originally buck teeth on most platforms.

While this emoji is often used by people calling themselves nerds in a self-deprecating way, the nerdy glasses paired with buck teeth can, and often does, evoke anti-Asian stereotypes. The fact that the default color of emoji faces is yellow further pushes this emoji into racist &quot;<a href="https://hyperallergic.com/189200/asians-meet-new-yellow-emoji-with-frowny-face/">yellowface</a>&quot;&nbsp;territory.

Some platforms have redesigned nerd face&nbsp;over time to not have buck teeth, perhaps in acknowledgement of the harm this imagery&nbsp;may cause. Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, and JoyPixels <a href="/google/android-7.0/nerd-face/">originally</a> <a href="/facebook/2.0/nerd-face/">featured</a> <a href="/joypixels/4.0/nerd-face/">designs</a> with buck teeth but have since changed (or completely removed) the teeth on nerd face.

Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, Samsung, and other platforms still use designs for this emoji that include buck teeth.

The cross on the helmet (shown in the Apple&nbsp;version of this emoji) is used in Japan as a safety reminder in&nbsp;<a href="/construction/" title="🚧 Construction Sign">construction</a>&nbsp;zones. It is also commonly seen on the&nbsp;<a href="http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Met">Met</a>&nbsp;helmet in the game&nbsp;Mega Man.

Thinking Face

A light bulb, as screwed into a <a href="/couch-and-lamp/">lamp</a> to light a room. Depicted as an incandescent bulb with a silver base, often shown with filament and a soft, yellow-white glow.

Commonly used to represent ideas (as over a head in a cartoon), thinking, and learning, often as paired with <a href="/thinking-face/">🤔 Thinking Face</a> or <a href="/thought-balloon/">💭 Thought Balloon</a>. May also represent various&nbsp;senses of light and brightness.

Electric Light Bulb

A&nbsp;reanimated human, often found in works of horror fiction. May have a <a href="/woman-zombie/">female</a> or <a href="/man-zombie/">male</a> appearance.

Zombie

Pink anatomical lungs and trachea, shown with bronchial tubes on some platforms. Used in medical contexts to talk about lung health. Sometimes used in reference to taking deep breaths, hyperventilating, or breathing in general. Also used in the context of smoking or vaping.

Skype has a series of emoji-like emoticons which have their own distinct animated appearance.

A subset of Skype emoticons were available in Microsoft Teams before the 3D versions of Microsoft&#39;s new Fluent emoji set began <a href="https://twitter.com/Emojipedia/status/1491752269880115200">rolling out in February 2022</a>.

The Skype emoticon set differs from the emoji set from parent company Microsoft, which is used as&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/">the system-wide emoji font in&nbsp;Windows 10</a>.

Skype uses its own system of shortcodes to enter each emoticon, for instance:

These shortcodes are replaced by the emoticon within Skype.
