Commonly roasted as a snack in East Asia during&nbsp;<a href="/winter/">winter</a>, much as squash and&nbsp;<a href="/jack-o-lantern/" title="🎃 Jack-O-Lantern">pumpkin</a>&nbsp;are popular in the United States during&nbsp;<a href="/fall-autumn/">fall/autumn</a>. Used as an offering to the <a href="/full-moon/">full moon</a> in Japan during the&nbsp;<a href="/moon-viewing-ceremony/">Moon Viewing&nbsp;</a>harvest festival.

Roasted Sweet Potato

A long, bulbous, bright purple eggplant, or aubergine in British English, shown with a leafy stem. Considered lucky in Japan to dream of an eggplant the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatsuyume">first night of the New Year</a>.&nbsp;

Widely used to represent a penis. Due to its phallic use, the hashtag&nbsp;<a href="https://instagram.com/explore/tags/🍆/" title="Browse #🍆 on Instagram">#🍆</a>&nbsp;was&nbsp;once&nbsp;banned (2015) on Instagram&#39;s search function.

Aubergine

A wedge of yellow-orange cheese with holes, like a Swiss, but used for the food in general. May be used for various cheese-related slang expressions (e.g., &ldquo;cheesy,&rdquo; &ldquo;say cheese,&rdquo; &ldquo;big cheese&rdquo;).

Red wine served in a stemmed glass.&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-5.0/wine-glass/">Google previously displayed&nbsp;</a>an orange-colored drink that resembled cognac.

A light-green variety of a common pear, shown with a stem and sometimes green leaf.

May be used for its namesake expression,&nbsp;pear-shaped&nbsp;(&ldquo;prominent hips&rdquo; or &ldquo;failure&rdquo;).

In 2023 this emoji was coopted by the company <a href="https://pearring.co/">Pear</a> and its customers to note within their social media profiles that they are not in a relationship and are open to meeting a new romantic partner.

The pod of the peanut, shown in its rounded, grooved, light-brown shell. Apple depicts a pair.

May be used for peanut butter as well&nbsp;as other edible nuts (e.g., almonds)&nbsp;or metaphorical ones, including slang for &ldquo;crazy&rdquo;, &ldquo;testicle&rdquo;, or <a href="/nsfw/">to nut</a>&nbsp;(ejaculate).
