Dizzy Face

A cartoon-styled representation of <a href="/dizzy-face/">dizziness</a>. Generally depicted as one or more yellow stars swirling in a yellow or blue circle.

Resembles <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lexicon_of_Comicana">squeans</a>, stylized stars and circles over the heads of characters in comics and animation to show they are dizzy, <a href="/woozy-face/">disoriented</a>, intoxicated, or <a href="/nauseated-face/">sick</a>.

Commonly used for emphasis and flair or to indicate various positive sentiments. Like <a href="/shooting-star/">🌠 Shooting Star</a>, sometimes used as a visual reference to NBC&rsquo;s <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_More_You_Know">More You Know</a> public service announcement, popular in the 1990s and featuring a&nbsp;shooting star logo.

Not to be confused with <a href="/star/">⭐ Star</a>, <a href="/glowing-star/">🌟 Glowing Star</a>, and <a href="/sparkles/">✨ Sparkles</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Face with Open Mouth

A face with open eyes and a small, open frown. Its eyebrows are furrowed, with a single bead of cold sweat dripping down, and its forehead is pale blue, as if experiencing a <a href="/cold-face/">cold</a> flash. Samsung&#39;s design shows upper teeth and tongue.

Meaning widely varies, but commonly conveys such feelings as sadness, disappointment, fear, and anxiety. Similar to <a href="/sad-but-relieved-face/">😥&nbsp;Sad but Relieved Face</a>, but with a blue head and larger frown.

Not to be confused with <a href="/crying-face/">😢&nbsp;Crying Face</a>, <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪&nbsp;Sleepy Face</a>, or other emojis with tear or sweat droplets. <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/anxious-face-with-sweat/">Microsoft</a> and <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/anxious-face-with-sweat/">Samsung</a> previously featured smileys that appeared more excited in expression.

Face with Open Mouth and Cold Sweat

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes, furrowed eyebrows, and a broad, open frown, as if yawning in exhaustion or groaning in exasperation. Usually shown with upper teeth and sometimes tongue.

While intended to represent tiredness, it commonly conveys various degrees and tones of frustration and sadness as well excitement and affection, as if it just can&rsquo;t handle how great someone or something is.

Similar in appearance and meaning to <a href="/weary-face/">😩 Weary Face</a>, but with scrunched eyes. Not to be confused with <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪 Sleepy Face</a> or <a href="/sleeping-face/">😴 Sleeping Face</a>, which often convey actually being asleep.&nbsp;

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/tired-face/">previously featured</a> three, vertical, blue lines over its forehead, which can indicate fatigue in manga and anime. Tired Face

A yellow face with small, open eyes, raised eyebrows, and a small,&nbsp;open mouth, as if it has been hushed by concern or correction. Meaning widely varies, but its expression is commonly taken as surprise, embarrassment, or mild&nbsp;excitement.

Similar to <a href="/astonished-face/">😲&nbsp;Astonished Face</a>, which features larger eyes and mouth.&nbsp;Google <a href="/google/android-5.0/hushed-face/">previously interpreted</a> hushed as &quot;silenced,&quot;&nbsp;depicting&nbsp;the emoji with a <a href="/zipper-mouth-face/">zipper mouth</a> until <a href="/google/android-6.0.1/">Android 6.0.1</a>. An icon used to&nbsp;represent a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclone">cyclone</a>.&nbsp;Some versions of this emoji&nbsp;show&nbsp;a&nbsp;spiral shape, which may be used for decorative purposes.

Created to disambiguate an existing emoji which previously displayed spiral eyes on <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-may-2019-update/dizzy-face/">some</a> <a href="/google/android-8.0/dizzy-face/">platforms</a>, but X eyes on others.&nbsp;This emoji will consistently show spiral eyes on all platforms.

The last update to SoftBank&#39;s emoji set was released in 2014 and discontinued in 2016. This release added 277 new characters

A minor update to this set removed regional indicators in 2016, but otherwise delivered no new changes.

Builds on the <a href="/softbank/1999/">original SoftBank emoji set</a>, with additional characters and&nbsp;design changes including many&nbsp;smileys switching from circular red faces to yellow faces which fill the entire square.
