Due to its initial inclusion in <a href="/softbank/2000">an early Japanese emoji set</a>, it is possible that this emoji was originally intended to represent the recreation of the Statue of Liberty located on the Odaiba island in Tokyo Bay.

Statue of Liberty

A horseshoe magnet, as used to pick up&nbsp;iron.&nbsp;Depicted at various angles in red with silver-tipped poles.

Twitter&rsquo;s design features two <a href="/high-voltage/">electric bolts</a> coming from its poles. WhatsApp&rsquo;s horseshoe is half blue, denoting an opposite magnetic pole.

Magnet

Compass

An electric battery, as used to power such devices as a <a href="/flashlight/">flashlight</a>. Generally depicted as an upright, green cylinder, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AA_battery">AA</a> or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D_battery">D cell</a>, with white indicators for its positive (facing up) and negative terminals.

Commonly used for various content concerning electricity, charging, energy, and power, especially in figurative senses. Its green color also suggests the icon for battery power on&nbsp;a cell/<a href="/mobile-phone/">mobile phone</a>.

Apple&rsquo;s design includes a <a href="/high-voltage/">voltage symbol</a>; WhatsApp&rsquo;s battery is blue.

Battery

A yellow face screaming in fear, depicted by wide, white eyes, a long, open mouth, hands pressed on cheeks, and a pale&nbsp;blue forehead, as if it has lost its color. Its expression evokes Edvard Munch&rsquo;s iconic painting <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream">The Scream</a>.

A thundercloud. Depicted as a yellow <a href="/high-voltage/" title="⚡ High Voltage Sign">lightning bolt</a>&nbsp;flashing from a white cloud.

May be used as a weather icon to represent thunderstorms.

Not to be confused with <a href="/cloud-with-lightning-and-rain/">⛈️ Cloud With Lightning and Rain</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Samsung&rsquo;s cloud was previously bluish with two lightning bolts.

Cloud with Lightning

A symbol for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_voltage">high voltage</a>, as warns against injury from electricity. Depicted as a jagged yellow bolt.

Commonly used to represent <a href="/cloud-with-lightning/">lightning</a>, electricity, and various flashes. Also used to represent metaphorical energy and signal attention online.

Samsung&rsquo;s bolt was <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/high-voltage/">previously</a> white on a blue square, as an icon for high voltage.

High Voltage Sign

A cartoon-styled representation of a collision. Depicted as a star-like, orange-and-yellow fiery burst, generally with one point extending to the bottom right, as if from the source of the collision.

May be used to represent various types of bangs, explosions, or crashes. Like <a href="/fire/">🔥 Fire</a> and <a href="/hundred-points/">💯 Hundred Points</a>, commonly used to represent something is excellent or exciting in some way.

Apple implements a version of 💥 Collision in its <a href="/firecracker/">🧨 Firecracker</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/camera-with-flash/">📸 Camera With Flash</a>.

Collision Symbol

A classic camera, shown with its flash going off, as to illuminate a darker scene. Vendors implement the same design as <a href="/camera/">📷 Camera</a> with a burst of light, often&nbsp;resembling <a href="/collision/">💥 Collision</a>.

Commonly used for various content concerning photography as well as an icon for a picture, as before an upload, link, or credit.

Camera with Flash

A campsite featuring a <a href="/tent/" title=" ⛺ Tent">tent</a> and a <a href="/evergreen-tree/" title=" 🌲 Evergreen Tree">tree</a>, and perhaps a campfire. Similar to the <a href="/tent/" title="⛺ Tent">tent</a> emoji.

Camping

A tent, used for protection from wind and rain when camping.

Facebook&#39;s version of this emoji&nbsp;shows it at night time, under stars, as did previous designs from <a href="/apple/ios-9.1/tent/">Apple</a>, <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/tent/">Samsung</a>, and <a href="/twitter/twemoji-2.4/tent/">Twitter</a>. Microsoft&#39;s design does not feature stars, but it does include a&nbsp;<a href="/crescent-moon/">crescent moon</a>.

Tent

A flying saucer, sometimes referred to as an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO). Previously shown on some platforms with an <a href="/alien/" title="👽 Alien">alien</a> at the controls and/or a beam of light emitting from the base.

Fire

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/books/">previously</a>&nbsp;featured&nbsp;the <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/samsungs-biggest-ever-emoji-update/">easter egg</a> initials MJ printed on the pages of its bottom book.

Books

A burning candle, as lit when taking a <a href="/person-taking-bath/">bath</a> or the power is out. Depicted as a white, pillar-shaped candle with a <a href="/fire/">flame</a> and wax dripping down its sides.

The last update to SoftBank&#39;s emoji set was released in 2014 and discontinued in 2016. This release added 277 new characters

A minor update to this set removed regional indicators in 2016, but otherwise delivered no new changes.

Builds on the <a href="/softbank/1999/">original SoftBank emoji set</a>, with additional characters and&nbsp;design changes including many&nbsp;smileys switching from circular red faces to yellow faces which fill the entire square.
