๐ Syringe
Emoji Meaning
A medical syringe, as used to administer a vaccine or draw blood. Generally depicted at a 45° angle with a needle to the upper right, emitting two droplets of the red fluid in its barrel, as blood drawn for testing or donation at a hospital.
Commonly used for content concerning health, medicine, and related professions as well as various senses of needles, drugs, blood, or as of December 2020 – coronavirus vaccination.
Google and Facebook’s designs previously featured green liquids, Samsung’s syringe was previously empty.
This syringe is shown as empty, with no blood in iOS 14.5 beta making it more versatile as a COVID-19 vaccination emoji. The same change is also taking place in Google's emoji font in 2021.
Syringe was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
