Zero Width Joiner

<p>A cartoon-styled gust of air. Depicted as a small, gray <a href="/cloud/">cloud</a> with motion lines, rushing to the left.</p>

<p>Resembles <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lexicon_of_Comicana"><i>briffits</i></a>, a stylized cloud of dust used in comics and animation to indicate someone or something has dashed away (e.g., <i>leaving someone in the dust</i>).</p>

<p>May be used to represent speed, smoking, and various types of wind, blown or broken. May precede&nbsp;other emoji, such as <a href="/person-running/">🏃Runner</a> or <a href="/automobile/">🚗 Automobile</a>, to indicate something is fast or fleeing:&nbsp;🏃💨, 🚗💨.</p>

<p>Not to be confused <a href="/wind-face/">🌬️ Wind Face</a>, though their applications may overlap.</p>

Dash Symbol

<p>A face showing a visible breath of air being dispelled. Used to represent relief, exhaustion, or as a <em>sigh</em> of&nbsp;disappointment or displeasure.</p>

<p>May also be used to indicate the <a href="/cigarette/">exhaling</a> of <a href="/420/">smoke</a>.</p>

13.1 No Smoking Symbol

<p>A yellow face with a frown and closed, downcast eyes, as if aching with sorrow or pain. May convey a variety of unhappy emotions, including disappointment, grief, stress, regret, and remorse.</p>

<p>Similar to <a href="/pensive-face/">😔&nbsp;Pensive Face</a>, but with a sadder, more hurt expression. Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/disappointed-face/">previously featured</a> an expression closer to <a href="/confused-face/">😕&nbsp;Confused Face</a>.</p>

Disappointed Face

<p>An herb, a plant used in cooking or medicine. Depicted as a green sprig, as of basil, sage, or oregano, generally with five or seven leaves.</p>

<p>May be used for various content concerning cooking, herbal medicine, and plant life more generally. Occasionally used as slang for marijuana.</p>

<p>Not to be confused with <a href="/seedling/">🌱 Seedling</a>, though their applications may overlap.</p>

Herb

<p>A yellow face with small, open eyes, a slight frown, and furrowed eyebrows, from which a single bead of sweat drips, as if from concern or anxiety. Also known as <em>Disappointed but Relieved Face</em>, suggesting the smiley is upset but is grateful things didn&rsquo;t turn out worse.</p>

<p>Commonly conveys mild degrees of frustration and sadness. Not to be confused with <a href="/crying-face/">😢 Crying Face</a>, <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪 Sleepy Face</a>, or other emojis with tear or sweat droplets.</p>

Disappointed but Relieved Face

<p>A lit, filtered cigarette, shown burning at different&nbsp;directions. Commonly used to represent various&nbsp;forms of smoking (e.g., tobacco, marijuana, vaping) as well as metaphorical senses of smoking.</p>

<p>Originally intended as a sign for a designated smoking area, as contrasted to <a href="/no-smoking/">🚭&nbsp;No Smoking Symbol</a>. This is&nbsp;illustrated in Samsung&rsquo;s <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/cigarette/">previous design</a> of a stylized, white cigarette on a blue background.</p>

Smoking Symbol

<p>A yellow face with soft, closed eyes, raised eyebrows, and a slight smile. Facebook&rsquo;s design features a slightly open mouth, as if&nbsp;sighing.</p>

<p>Conveys various pleasant feelings, including&nbsp;contentment, calm, peace, and&nbsp;relief. May also convey feelings of happiness or good-natured humor more generally.</p>

<p><a href="/google/android-7.0/relieved-face/">Google</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/relieved-face/">Microsoft</a> previously included sweat beads. Not to be confused with <a href="/pensive-face/">😔&nbsp;Pensive Face</a>, which has similarly shaped eyes but in a sadder expression.</p>

<p>South Korean financial technology company Toss (토스) provides its own emoji design set within its mobile application. The design set, entitled Toss Face (토스페이스), has also been made available as a free font file for Apple devices.</p>

<p>First launched in early 2022, the Toss Face emoji set originally included a series of intentionally divergent emoji designs compared to those of other vendors.</p>

<p>The majority of these divergent designs followed two broad themes. Firstly,&nbsp;rendering culturally-specific Japanese emojis with designs representing related South Korean concepts (e.g. the <a href="/sake/">🍶 Sake</a> emoji appearing as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makgeolli">makgeolli</a>).</p>

<p>Secondly, emojis&nbsp;representing older technologies with designs representing more contemporary innovations. (e.g. <a href="/pager/">📟 Pager</a> displaying as instant messaging speech bubbles; <a href="/auto-rickshaw/">🛺 Auto Rickshaw</a> being displyed as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unmanned_aerial_vehicle">drone</a>).</p>

<p>In March 2022 these divergent designs were updated to accurately reflect Unicode&#39;s recommendations. In April 2022 they were re-added to the Toss app using <a href="https://emojipedia.org/glossary/">Private Use Area</a> codepoints.&nbsp;</p>

Fintech app Toss (토스) emoji designs and design history

<p>Released 2022-08-16, this Toss Face emoji update&nbsp;added support for <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and updated several existing emoji designs&nbsp;to better match those of other vendors.</p>

<p>The update also re-introduced a series of&nbsp;Korean-oriented and future-oriented emoji designs to the Toss Face emoji set via <a href="https://emojipedia.org/glossary/#pua">Private User Area</a> characters.</p>

<p>Released 2022-03-28, this update to the Toss Face emoji set changed a series of previously divergent emoji designs&nbsp;to accurately reflect Unicode&#39;s&nbsp;recommendations.</p>

March 2022

<p>Released 2022-02-28, the original version of Toss&#39; Toss Face emoji set provided support for emojis up to late 2020&#39;s <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a> recommendations.</p>

<p>A variety of emojis were given intentionally divergent designs in the emoji set&#39;s initial release.&nbsp;These divergent designs followed two major&nbsp;themes: rendering culturally-specific Japanese emojis with designs representing related South Korean concepts, and having select emojis represent contemporary technologies instead of their recommended concepts.</p>
