A train, of no specified type. Due to the presence of a <a title="🚂 Steam Locomotive" href="/locomotive/">steam train</a> and <a title="🚄 High-Speed Train" href="/high-speed-train/">fast train</a> emoji, this is likely to be a regular electrified or diesel passenger train.

A metro: frequent underground train found in built-up areas with high populations.

This emoji is generally displayed as a forward-facing train, with some platforms also displaying a tunnel as a circle surrounding the train. Apple&#39;s artwork shows the characters&nbsp;IL2&nbsp;which may be a reference to one of the more <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/apple-infinite-loop-oral-history/">locked-down buildings&nbsp;at Apple&#39;s Infinite Loop</a> Headquarters during iPhone development&nbsp;(IL2 = Infinite Loop 2).

Metro

A form of public transport similar to a <a href="/tram/" title="🚊 Tram">tram</a>,&nbsp;but running on a track or network separated from cars and other types of traffic.

Difficult to discern from a train at small sizes.

Similar to a <a title="🚆 Train" href="/train/">train</a>, but running on a single track. Monorails are often found at <a title="🎡 Ferris Wheel" href="/ferris-wheel/">theme parks</a>, or other tourist destinations.

Monorail

Similar to a monorail, a suspension railway is elevated, but the vehicle is suspended under the track.

WhatsApp has its own emoji designs which are displayed on all WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp Web.

One emoji supported by WhatsApp but no other platform is the&nbsp;<a href="/flag-for-texas-ustx/">Texas Flag emoji</a>. This is a valid subdivision flag supported by Unicode, but not listed within any Unicode emoji release and as of 2019 is not supported by any other major vendors.

In 2021 WhatsApp introduced a&nbsp;<a href="/refugee-nation-flag/">Refugee Nation Flag</a> as a <a href="/emoji-zwj-sequence/">ZWJ sequence</a>. Like the <a href="/flag-for-texas-ustx/">Texas Flag emoji</a>, this&nbsp;flag is&nbsp;not supported by any other major vendors.

Beginning rollout on 2024-02-02, WhatsApp&nbsp;2.23.2.72 debut support for a subset of 2023&#39;s <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendations.

Additionally, this update introduced gender-neutral designs for a series of people emojis that previously displayed a gendered appearance on the platform.&nbsp;

Beginning rollout on 2023-01-11, WhatsApp 2.23.2.72&nbsp;debuted support for the 31 emojis recommended in September 2022&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>.

This update also changed the designs of the&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/nerd-face/">🤓&nbsp;Nerd Face</a>, the&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/pleading-face/">🥺&nbsp;Pleading Face</a>, and the&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/face-holding-back-tears/">🥹&nbsp;Face Holding Back Tears</a>&nbsp;emojis.

Released 2022-04-19, this update for WhatsApp on Android devices introduced support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> emojis such as <a href="/melting-face/">🫠&nbsp;Melting Face</a>, as well as&nbsp;multiple skin tone versions of the&nbsp;<a href="/handshake/">🤝 Handshake</a>&nbsp;emoji.

Released 2021-11-25, this update introduced&nbsp;additional skin tone combinations&nbsp;for the<a href="/people-holding-hands/">🧑&zwj;🤝&zwj;🧑 People Holding Hands</a>&nbsp;emoji from late 2019&#39;s <a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>, as well as many different &nbsp;<a href="/kiss/">💏 Kiss</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/couple-with-heart/">💑 Couple with Heart</a> skin tone combinations from late 2020&#39;s <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.

However, this release did not update WhatsApp&#39;s native emoji keyboard to allow for access&nbsp;to these new emojis.

Released 2021-08-18,&nbsp;this update included partial support for <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>, with&nbsp;three&nbsp;new smiley emoji and two new heart emojis.

The update also introduced <a href="/woman-beard/">🧔&zwj;♀️&nbsp;Woman: Beard</a> and updated the design of&nbsp;<a href="/person-beard/">🧔 Person: Beard</a> to be more gender neutral. The update did not, however, provide support for&nbsp;<a href="/man-beard/">🧔&zwj;♂️ Man: Beard</a>&nbsp;or the new variations of&nbsp;<a href="/kiss/">💏&nbsp;Kiss</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/couple-with-heart/">💑&nbsp;Couple with Heart</a>&nbsp;recommended in&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.
