Previously this emoji incorrectly&nbsp;<a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-v/" title="🇻 Regional Indicator Symbol Let­ter V on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (revised)">depicted&nbsp;the letter U</a>&nbsp;when displayed in isolation on Samsung devices.&nbsp;This was corrected in <a href="/samsung/one-ui-2.0/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-u/">January 2020</a>.

The flag for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauritania">Mauritania</a>, which may show as the letters&nbsp;MR&nbsp;on some platforms. This design <a href="http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/08/mauritania-votes-controversial-constitutional-reform-170805081519439.html">changed</a> in August 2017, adding a red band at the top and bottom.

WhatsApp has its own emoji designs which are displayed on all WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp Web.

One emoji supported by WhatsApp but no other platform is the&nbsp;<a href="/flag-for-texas-ustx/">Texas Flag emoji</a>. This is a valid subdivision flag supported by Unicode, but not listed within any Unicode emoji release and as of 2019 is not supported by any other major vendors.

In 2021 WhatsApp introduced a&nbsp;<a href="/refugee-nation-flag/">Refugee Nation Flag</a> as a <a href="/emoji-zwj-sequence/">ZWJ sequence</a>. Like the <a href="/flag-for-texas-ustx/">Texas Flag emoji</a>, this&nbsp;flag is&nbsp;not supported by any other major vendors.
