Zero Width Joiner

A classic red love heart emoji.

The red heart ideograph&nbsp;is traditionally used for expressions of love and romance across many cultures, with this being amongst the most frequence use cases for this emoji.

However, the Red Heart emoji is also often used to express non-romantic positive sentiments, in part thanks to its use as one of the default reaction emoji options across many social messaging platforms (e.g. <a href="/zh/instagram">Instagram</a>, <a href="/zh/slack">Slack</a>, <a href="/zh/whatsapp">WhatsApp</a>).

Additionally, as with the other color-based hearts, this emoji is often also used to express an affinity with or appreciation for various people, places, groups, objects, or ideas associated with the same color.

This is historically&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">the most popular heart emoji</a>&nbsp;by a considerable distance and is amongst the most popular emojis of all time.&nbsp;

Released on 5 March 2024 for iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4, this was the first version of iOS to support the 118 new emojis in <a href="/zh/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a>, including various direction-specific people emojis.

iOS 15.4

Released on 2021-05-24, this update changed the appearance&nbsp;of the various&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%94%80%E7%88%AC%E7%9A%84%E4%BA%BA/">🧗 Person Climbing</a> emojis to have the person wearing a safety helmet.

iOS 14.6

New emojis from Apple for 2021 available as part of&nbsp;iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, tvOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, and macOS 11.3.

This Apple emoji update changed the appearance of the&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%B3%A8%E5%B0%84%E5%99%A8/">💉&nbsp;Syringe</a>&nbsp;emoji&nbsp;to remove the blood, and added mixed skin tone support to&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E4%BA%B2%E5%90%BB/">💏&nbsp;Kiss</a> and <a href="/zh/%E6%83%85%E4%BE%A3/">💑&nbsp;Couple with Heart</a>.

Released on 26&nbsp;April 2021, this was the first version of iOS to support the 217 new emojis in&nbsp;<a href="/zh/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>. Taking into account <a href="/zh/glossary/#non-rgi">non-RGI</a> emoji sequences, there&nbsp;there are 669 new emojis in this release.

iOS 14.5

iOS 5.0 supported emoji characters in the private use area, prior to inclusion of emoji in the Unicode Standard.

These were not cross-platform compatible, and have been included here for image reference. Codepoints have been updated to match the current release of the Unicode Standard.

iOS 5.0 was released on October 12, 2011. This released did not add any new emojis, but <a href="/zh/apple/ios-5.0/changed/">changed</a> a number of emoji designs including&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%85%8E%E8%9B%8B/">🍳&nbsp;Cooking</a> (previously an egg being cracked),&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%B5%B7%E8%9E%BA/">🐚&nbsp;Spiral Shell</a> (previously a fan shaped shell),&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%AF%95%E4%B8%9A%E5%B8%BD/">🎓&nbsp;Graduation Cap</a> (previously a Graduation shirt) and&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E9%AB%98%E5%B0%94%E5%A4%AB%E7%90%83%E6%B4%9E/">⛳&nbsp;Flag in Hole</a> (previously a golf ball).

This emoji update was not made available for Mac OS X.
