Used in a similar manner to a regular * asterisk&nbsp;character but tends to be shown in a similar vertical alignment to a &bull;&nbsp;bullet point.&nbsp;The eight spoked asterisk&nbsp;has both a ✳︎&nbsp;text and ✳️&nbsp;emoji presentation available on most&nbsp;platforms.

A barrel for transporting bulk liquids, such as oil. Generally depicted as a red or blue metal drum with holes or a stopper on its lid. Commonly used for various content concerning petroleum or hazardous waste.

Blue Book

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazar_(amulet)#Amulet">nazar</a>, an eye-shaped amulet believed to protect against the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye">evil eye</a>, especially in Turkish culture. Depicted as a rich blue, circular bead with a black dot in the center ringed with white and light blue, resembling an <a href="/eye/">eye</a>.

Commonly used to represent eyes, various senses of looking, various senses of&nbsp;charms, envy and jealousy, and&nbsp;<a href="/flag-turkey/">Turkey</a> and Turkish culture. Also used for its blue color more generally.

WhatsApp, Facebook, and Huawei&#39;s designs include a small hole, as for threading the amulet on a string or chain.

Nazar Amulet

A jewel or gem, as set into a <a href="/ring/">ring</a>. Depicted in the shape of a classic diamond but in the bright blue color of an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryl#Aquamarine_and_maxixe">aquamarine</a>.

Commonly used for various content concerning jewelry, as upon an engagement or <a href="/wedding-marriage/">marriage</a>. May also convey various literal and figurative senses of beauty, wealth, sophistication, preciousness, and sparkling.

NTT Docomo (previously styled as DoCoMo) is a Japanese mobile phone carrier known for launching the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-mode">i-mode</a>&nbsp;mobile internet service in early 1999.

<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-mode">i-mode</a>&nbsp;contained one of the earliest emoji sets, designed by&nbsp;interface designer&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shigetaka_Kurita">Shigetaka Kurita</a>. While Kurita&#39;s 1999 emoji set is commonly cited as the first emoji set, it is more accurate to deem this <a href="/softbank/1997/">one of the first emoji sets</a>&nbsp;as earlier examples have been located, albeit on less-popular platforms than Docomo&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-mode">i-mode</a>.

Notably in 1995, Docomo produced a popular <a href="/pocket-bell">Pocket Bell</a> pager that allowed users to send each other&nbsp;simple pixel <a href="/red-heart">heart</a>&nbsp;(❤) and&nbsp;<a href="/telephone">telephone</a> (☎) symbols.&nbsp;The popularity of this feature amongst Japan&#39;s youth has consistently been cited by&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shigetaka_Kurita">Shigetaka Kurita</a>&nbsp;as a direct source of inspiration when creating <a href="/docomo/1999">Docomo&#39;s 1999</a> emoji set.

Note: Each&nbsp;emoji design within every pre-2010 emoji set has been mapped to its modern Unicode codepoint, despite these sets existing prior to Unicode emoji standardization.

NTT Docomo

The final original emoji set from NTT Docomo.
