Google emoji images are used on most Android devices, Gmail Web Interface, Google Meet, and ChromeOS. These are provided as part of the&nbsp;<a href="https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-emoji">Noto Emoji</a> project. These images are also used for&nbsp;<a href="/slack/">Slack</a> on non-Apple platforms including Windows, Linux, and Android.

Gboard also includes an <a href="/emoji-kitchen/">emoji mashup feature known as&nbsp;Emoji Kitchen </a>which allows two emojis to be combined into a sticker. Thousands of combinations are available, using Gboard for Android and Google search.

First released as a&nbsp;color vector&nbsp;font file on 2022-09-14, this update to Google&#39;s Noto Color Emoji set introduced support for <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a> emoji such as <a href="https://emojipedia.org/shaking-face/">Shaking Face</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/pink-heart/">Pink Heart</a>.

Google <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20081229232412/http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/picture-is-worth-thousand-words.html">released</a>&nbsp;an original&nbsp;set of 79&nbsp;animated emoji characters for Gmail on 2008-10-23. <a href="https://www.fastcompany.com/3037803/the-oral-history-of-the-poop-emoji-or-how-google-brought-poop-to-america">Designed</a> by Ryan Germick and Susie Sahim, this set was known internally at Google as&nbsp;goomoji. These unique designs&nbsp;were implemented following Gmail&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="http://japan.googleblog.com/2008/02/gmail.html">initial emoji support</a> in&nbsp;Japan, which used images from <a href="/au-kddi/">au by KDDI</a>.

66 of the 79 emojis in this set <a href="https://android.googlesource.com/platform/external/skia/+/donut-release2/emoji/gmojiraw.txt">map&nbsp;directly</a> to the first emoji code points added to&nbsp;<a href="/unicode-6.0/">Unicode 6.0</a>.&nbsp;The remaining 13 emojis were added to Unicode in subsequent years.

Implemented using Private Use Area code points, these have been mapped to their modern Unicode code points for display here.
