On major platforms, depicted as a green or orange toy gun with an orange tip and barrel pointed left.&nbsp;Google&nbsp;and Facebook&rsquo;s designs include mounted reservoirs.

Originally depicted as a classic handgun, as a revolver or other pistol. In 2016, <a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/apple-and-the-gun-emoji/">Apple switched its design</a> from weapon&nbsp;to toy; other major vendors followed suit by 2018. Deprecated emoji sets or smaller platforms still display the emoji as a handgun.

Microsoft <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/pistol/">initially displayed</a> the emoji as a toy ray gun before switching to a revolver, then squirt gun. Google <a href="/google/android-4.4/pistol/">once featured</a> a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blunderbuss">blunderbuss</a>.

Yee-haw! A yellow smiley wearing a wide-brimmed, brown-leather cowboy hat. Its smile varies across platforms.&nbsp;May convey a sense of exuberance, whimsy, confidence, adventure, or other sentiments.

Several vendors, including Apple, feature&nbsp;the same expression as their <a href="/grinning-face-with-big-eyes/">😃 Grinning Face With Big Eyes</a>.

A round military helmet with a chinstrap. All platforms depict a green helmet, with some designs featuring a green camouflage pattern.

A symbol for potable (drinkable) water, usually shown with a faucet filling a drinking glass. Commonly used for various content concerning water, drinking, thirst, and dripping.

Some platforms, including Apple and WhatsApp, depict the emoji as an object while others feature a stylized, white faucet on a blue square, as a sign or icon of water that is safe to drink. Compare&nbsp;<a href="/non-potable-water/">🚱 Non-Potable Water</a>, which indicates water that is not safe to drink.

Apple&#39;s design&nbsp;<a href="/apple/ios-9.1/potable-water/">previously featured</a> a blue symbol design, <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/potable-water/">Microsoft&#39;s</a> a cup filled with water.

Potable Water Symbol

A cartoon-styled bomb, depicted as a black ball with a burning fuse.

Commonly used for various figurative bombs or explosions, e.g., slang bomb, a &ldquo;home run&rdquo; in <a href="/baseball/">baseball</a> or <a href="/softball/">softball</a>;&nbsp;&quot;excellent&quot; or &quot;attractive.&quot; Sometimes applied&nbsp;in contexts of war, weapons, or violence.

Earlier&nbsp;designs from <a href="/softbank/2006/bomb/">SoftBank</a> and <a href="/au-kddi/type-d-2/bomb/">au by KDDI</a> animated the bomb as <a href="/collision/">exploding</a>.

Bomb

A cartoon-styled representation of a collision. Depicted as a star-like, orange-and-yellow fiery burst, generally with one point extending to the bottom right, as if from the source of the collision.

May be used to represent various types of bangs, explosions, or crashes. Like <a href="/fire/">🔥 Fire</a> and <a href="/hundred-points/">💯 Hundred Points</a>, commonly used to represent something is excellent or exciting in some way.

Apple implements a version of 💥 Collision in its <a href="/firecracker/">🧨 Firecracker</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/camera-with-flash/">📸 Camera With Flash</a>.

Collision Symbol

Three, light blue droplets, as sweat beads, splashing down to the right. Resembles&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lexicon_of_Comicana">plewds</a>, stylized sweat droplets used in comics and animation to show characters working hard or feeling stressed.

May be used to represent various types of liquids, including sexual fluids. May also be used to represent various liquid-based slang expressions (e.g., drip, &ldquo;exceptional style, swagger&quot;).

Splashing Sweat Symbol

An umbrella, opened to provide cover from rain. Generally depicted with purple fabric and a hooked handle with several rain <a href="/droplet/">droplets</a> falling on its top.

Commonly used for various content concerning rainy weather.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s umbrella is green. Google&rsquo;s umbrella was <a href="/google/android-7.0/umbrella-with-rain-drops/">previously</a> blue, <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/umbrella-with-rain-drops/">Microsoft</a> and <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/umbrella-with-rain-drops/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> red, and <a href="/facebook/1.0/umbrella-with-rain-drops/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> once pink.

In 2016, a Durex <a href="http://thenextweb.com/lifestyle/2016/11/30/durex-condom-emoji/">poll</a>&nbsp;voted this emoji to (unofficially)&nbsp;represent&nbsp;condoms and safe sex for World AIDS Day.

Umbrella with Rain Drops

A water fountain, found in a&nbsp;park or other public space. Used for decorative purposes. A variety of styles of fountain are shown across different platforms.

A few floating bubbles. May be used to represent soap suds, carbonation, or an effervescent personality.

Bubbles

A friendly-looking, tentacled space creature with two eyes. Most major platforms style their design after aliens in classic arcade games like <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Invaders">Space Invaders</a>, rendering it purple and pixellated, as if in 8-bit graphics.

Samsung&rsquo;s design resembles an <a href="/octopus/">octopus</a> and <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/alien-monster/">previously featured</a> a big-brained <a href="/alien/">alien</a>, &agrave; la <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cage_(Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series)">Star Trek</a>. Earlier designs from <a href="/google/android-7.0/alien-monster/">Google</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/alien-monster/">Microsoft</a> depicted more cartoon-like alien monsters.

May be used of topics concerning extraterrestrial life,&nbsp;outer space, gaming, and computing, but also enjoys a range of idiosyncratic applications, such as&nbsp;conveying a&nbsp;sense of weirdness, wackiness, or excitement, given that the emoji looks like it is raising its arms shouting&nbsp;Yay! on many platforms.

Alien Monster

A flame, as produced when something is on fire. Depicted as a red, orange, and yellow flickering flame.

Commonly used for various metaphorical expressions related to fire, including the slang hot (&ldquo;attractive&rdquo;) and <a href="https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/its-lit/">lit</a> (&ldquo;excellent&rdquo;).

Fire

A knife with a long steel blade, as a <a href="/woman-cook/">chef</a> uses to slice <a href="/cut-of-meat/">meat</a> or vegetables. Depicted with a black or brown handle and positioned at a 45&deg; angle, often with its point at the lower right.

May be used for content concerning cooking and food preparation, but often represents various senses of cutting and stabbing.&nbsp;Its Unicode name, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_kitchen_knife">Hocho</a>, means &ldquo;kitchen knife&rdquo; in Japanese and refers to a variety of knives used in <a href="/flag-japan/">Japan</a>.

Hocho

A firecracker, as lit on&nbsp;<a href="/chinese-new-year/">Chinese New Year</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/new-years-eve/">New Year&#39;s Eve</a>, or&nbsp;<a href="/independence-day/">Independence Day</a>. Depicted as a red tube with a burning fuse, sometimes lined with gold rings at its top and base.

Often used with <a href="/fireworks/">🎆 Fireworks</a> and <a href="/sparkler/">🎇 Sparkler</a> for various celebrations and holidays. Also applied to&nbsp;figurative senses of <a href="/fire/">fire</a>, e.g., slang hot, on fire&nbsp;(&ldquo;excellent&rdquo;).

While it may resemble a stick of dynamite on some platforms, several vendor designs, such as Google and Twitter&#39;s,&nbsp;suggest the emoji is modeled after traditional Chinese firecrackers, as are strung together and lit on such occasions as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_New_Year">Chinese New Year</a>.

Firecracker

A pointed knife with a steel blade, as used for thrusting in close combat. Generally depicted as double-edged with a black, brown or gold&nbsp;cross-shaped hilt and positioned at 45&deg; angle, often with its tip at the lower left.

May represent knives and other bladed weapons (cf. <a href="/crossed-swords/">⚔️&nbsp;Crossed Swords</a>) as well as various senses of cutting and stabbing. Often applied to medieval or fantasy content.

Google&rsquo;s design&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-9.0/dagger/">previously</a> featured&nbsp;an icy-blue blade and <a href="/sparkles/">sparkles</a>, suggests a dagger <a href="/elf/">elves</a> may wield in fantasy.

Dagger Knife

Two swords with steel blades in an X shape, as crossed for combat between two knights or warriors. Generally depicted as straight, double-edged blades with brown or black, cross-shaped hilts, points directed up.&nbsp;Commonly used as a symbol for battle, fighting, or a contest, as in sports.

Sometimes shown with golden handles. Several vendors implement the same design as for their <a href="/dagger/">🗡️&nbsp;Dagger</a>.&nbsp;Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/crossed-swords/">previously featured</a> stylized, white swords on a green square, as a sign or icon of war.

May be paired with (or defended by) <a href="/shield/">🛡️&nbsp;Shield</a>. Not to be confused with <a href="/hammer-and-pick/">⚒️&nbsp;Hammer and Pick</a> or <a href="/hammer-and-wrench/">🛠️&nbsp;Hammer and Wrench</a>.

Crossed Swords

A wave of water, as breaks at the beach. Depicted as a blue wave with a foamy, white crest, curling to the right.

May be used to represent water in general, various bodies of water like oceans, and water activities, such as&nbsp;<a href="/person-swimming/">swimming</a>, <a href="/person-surfing/">surfing</a>, and <a href="/sailboat/">sailing</a>. May also&nbsp;be used to represent metaphorical waves.

Apple&rsquo;s design resembles the iconic wave in&nbsp;Japanese artist Hokusai&rsquo;s famous woodblock print, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Wave_off_Kanagawa">The Great Wave off Kanagawa</a>&nbsp;(ca. 1830).

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-2.0">2014</a>, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms.
