Facebook had&nbsp;a unique emoji set that previously displayed&nbsp;within Messenger for iOS,&nbsp;Android and web. These emojis were different to those used on the&nbsp;<a href="/facebook/">Facebook Desktop Website</a>&nbsp;from June 2016 &mdash;&nbsp;September 2017.

As of October 2017 this emoji set has been <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/facebook-discontinues-messenger-emojis/">discontinued</a>. Messenger for iOS now uses <a href="/apple/">native Apple emojis</a>, and Messenger for Android and web uses the <a href="/facebook/">Facebook emoji set</a>. A jewel or gem, as set into a <a href="/ring/">ring</a>. Depicted in the shape of a classic diamond but in the bright blue color of an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryl#Aquamarine_and_maxixe">aquamarine</a>.

Commonly used for various content concerning jewelry, as upon an engagement or <a href="/wedding-marriage/">marriage</a>. May also convey various literal and figurative senses of beauty, wealth, sophistication, preciousness, and sparkling.

Small Orange Diamond

Used in a similar manner to a regular * asterisk&nbsp;character but tends to be shown in a similar vertical alignment to a &bull;&nbsp;bullet point.&nbsp;The eight spoked asterisk&nbsp;has both a ✳︎&nbsp;text and ✳️&nbsp;emoji presentation available on most&nbsp;platforms.

Small Blue Diamond

An orangutan, the orange-haired ape with long arms. Depicted facing forward, with a long broad face&nbsp;and sitting with its legs bent. Occasionally shown scratching its head. Color varies across platforms, ranging from orange&nbsp;to light brown.

This emoji is considered <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/how-the-monkey-emoji-is-racist/">racist in some contexts</a>,&nbsp;particularly when used to disparage, insult, and abuse people with dark skin, especially Black people.

Skype has a series of emoji-like emoticons which have their own distinct animated appearance.

A subset of Skype emoticons were available in Microsoft Teams before the 3D versions of Microsoft&#39;s new Fluent emoji set began <a href="https://twitter.com/Emojipedia/status/1491752269880115200">rolling out in February 2022</a>.

The Skype emoticon set differs from the emoji set from parent company Microsoft, which is used as&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/">the system-wide emoji font in&nbsp;Windows 10</a>.

Skype uses its own system of shortcodes to enter each emoticon, for instance:

These shortcodes are replaced by the emoticon within Skype. If using a Unicode-compatible emoji code point, this will be given the system-wide emoji appearance:&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/">Microsoft</a> set on Skype for Windows, <a href="/apple/">Apple</a> set on Skype for macOS or iOS, <a href="/samsung/">Samsung</a> set on phones using&nbsp;OneUI.

The majority of&nbsp;Skype Emoticons have&nbsp;equivalents in the Unicode Standard, while a number of emoticons go beyond what is offered by the standardized emoji set. For example, Skype&#39;s offers&nbsp;variety of additional pride-related flags alongside <a href="/pride/">🏳️&zwj;🌈 Pride</a>&nbsp;and <a href="/transgender-flag/">🏳️&zwj;⚧️&nbsp;Transgender Flag</a>, such as those shown below.

A Unicode-adjacent subset of Skype&#39;s current animated emoticons. Released in summer of 2015.

These animated emoticons are created via shortcodes.

For purposes of display on Emojipedia, the emoticons from Skype Emoticons 1.2 have been assigned a&nbsp;codepoints from a Unicode-equivalent emoji.
