Pig Nose

A yellow face with raised eyebrows, enlarged eyes, slight frown, and long nose,&nbsp;indicating&nbsp;it&rsquo;s telling a lie in the manner of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinocchio">Pinocchio</a>. Like that character, Facebook&#39;s design features a wooden nose.&nbsp;

May represent lying, a liar, and other concepts of deceit and dishonesty to varying degrees of intensity. Sometimes used to convey disbelief (e.g., You must be kidding) or feeling abashed (e.g., as if&nbsp;caught in the act of lying).

Lying Face

A single human&nbsp;ear. May&nbsp;be used in the context of listening, or hearing something.

A human nose. May be used to indicate&nbsp;smelling, or something that smells.

Nose

A friendly, cartoon-styled face of a pig looking straight ahead. Depicted as a pink face with a neutral expression, pointed or floppy ears, and distinctive&nbsp;<a href="/pig-nose/">pig nose</a>.

Often used with a more affectionate tone than the full-bodied <a href="/pig/">🐖 Pig</a>. Available as an Apple <a href="/animoji/">Animoji</a>.

Apple&rsquo;s face bears a slight grin and <a href="/apple/ios-6.0/pig-face/">previously</a> featured floppy ears.

Pig Face

A pig, a plump animal farmed for its meat, such as <a href="/bacon/">bacon</a>. Depicted in light pink in full profile on all fours facing left, with a long snout and short, curly tail.

May be used to represent the animal, its food products, or various metaphorical senses of pig.

One of the 12 animals of the <a href="/chinese-new-year/">Chinese zodiac</a>; 2019 is the Year of the Pig. See also<a href="/pig-face/"> 🐷 Pig Face</a>, <a href="/pig-nose/">🐽 Pig Nose</a>, and <a href="/boar/">🐗 Boar</a>.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s design <a href="/whatsapp/2.17/pig/">previously</a> featured a wide grin.

A high speed train, designed to cover long distances at high speed. Also features a streamlined bullet nose, often used in reference to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinkansen">Shinkansen</a> in Japan.

A boar, a hairy,&nbsp;wild pig with tusks. Generally depicted as the face of&nbsp;a brown boar, either facing left or looking straight ahead, with prominent tusks projecting from its lower jaw.

Twitter&#39;s design feature a friendly, cartoon-styled face, as did an early&nbsp;<a href="/facebook/1.0/boar/">Facebook</a>&nbsp;design. WhatsApp&rsquo;s design displays the animal in full, as <a href="/google/android-7.0/boar/">Google</a>, <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/boar/">Microsoft</a>, and <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/boar/">Samsung</a> previously did.

The SoftBank emoji designs&nbsp;heavily influenced&nbsp;<a href="/apple/iphone-os-2.2/">Apple&#39;s original emoji font</a>&nbsp;which was&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/apples-emoji-evolution-1997-2018/">designed to be compatible with this set</a>&nbsp;when launching in Japan, due&nbsp;to iPhone being a SoftBank-exclusive phone when first released.

SoftBank&nbsp;<a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.softbank.jp%2Fmobile%2Finfo%2Fpersonal%2Fsoftware%2F20170120-02%2F&amp;edit-text=">announced</a> it would switch to using Google emoji designs from 2016, for&nbsp;phones supporting <a href="/google/android-7.0/">Android 7.0</a> or above. SoftBank no longer releases&nbsp;updates to this emoji set.

The last update to SoftBank&#39;s emoji set was released in 2014 and discontinued in 2016. This release added 277 new characters

A minor update to this set removed regional indicators in 2016, but otherwise delivered no new changes.

An update to the SoftBank emoji set&nbsp;<a href="https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.softbank.jp%2Fcorp%2Fgroup%2Fsbm%2Fnews%2Fpress%2F2008%2F20080603_03%2F&amp;edit-text=&amp;act=url">released at the end of&nbsp;June 2008</a>, sometimes referred to as&nbsp;SoftBank 3G.

This version added more detail to each character and was the first SoftBank release to show the majority of smileys as round characters rather than square edge-to-edge designs.

Note: Each&nbsp;emoji has been mapped to its modern Unicode codepoint, despite this set existing prior to Unicode emoji standardization.
