Previously this emoji incorrectly <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-u/" title="🇺 Regional Indicator Symbol Let­ter U on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (revised)">depicted&nbsp;the letter V</a>&nbsp;when displayed in isolation on Samsung devices. This was corrected in <a href="/samsung/one-ui-2.0/regional-indicator-symbol-letter-v/">January 2020</a>.

Google&#39;s spider <a href="/google/android-8.0/spider/">was previously</a> upside down, suspended from a thread, though now is&nbsp;facing&nbsp;left.&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/spider/">Microsoft&rsquo;s</a> spider was previously a black widow, while&nbsp;<a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/spider/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> was brown.

A friendly, cartoon-styled face of a koala&mdash;a bear-like <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsupial">marsupial</a> known for eating eucalyptus and sleeping&mdash;looking straight ahead. Depicted as a gray face with round, fluffy ears and a large, black nose.

Often used with an affectionate tone and in association with <a href="/flag-australia/">Australia</a>, where the animal is found.

Google&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/google/android-7.0/koala/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">previously&nbsp;</a>depicted a full-bodied koala climbing a tree, Softbank&rsquo;s koala<a href="https://emojipedia.org/softbank/2004/koala/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">&nbsp;previously</a>&nbsp;had brown fur.

Koala

A classic spider web (cobweb), as spun by a <a href="/spider/">🕷️ Spider</a> to catch prey. Depicted as a white, symmetrical, wheel-shaped web, as an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_web#Orb_web_construction">orb web</a>,&nbsp;with six or eight equal sectors.

Commonly used during Halloween, to represent the superhero&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man">Spider-Man</a>, or for a metaphorical web, net, or network. Not to be confused with <a href="/snowflake/">❄️ Snowflake</a>.

A kangaroo, a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsupial">marsupial</a> with a large tail and legs. Depicted in yellowish-brown in full profile facing left with large, pointed ears, shown either resting on its hind legs and tail or jumping.

Commonly used in connection with <a href="/flag-australia/">Australia</a>, where the animal is found.

Kangaroo

A stack of breakfast pancakes, topped with a pad of butter and maple syrup oozing down its golden-brown sides, onto a plate on some platforms.&nbsp;

Especially popular on <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrove_Tuesday">Pancake Tuesday</a>.

An <a href="/nsfw/">alternative use</a> for this emoji on TikTok and other platforms: to represent that someone has a flat bottom (&#39;flat as a pancake&#39;).

Beginning rollout on 2024-02-02, WhatsApp&nbsp;2.23.2.72 debut support for a subset of 2023&#39;s <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendations.

Released 2022-04-19, this update for WhatsApp on Android devices introduced support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> emojis such as <a href="/melting-face/">🫠&nbsp;Melting Face</a>, as well as&nbsp;multiple skin tone versions of the&nbsp;<a href="/handshake/">🤝 Handshake</a>&nbsp;emoji.

Released 2021-11-25, this update introduced&nbsp;additional skin tone combinations&nbsp;for the<a href="/people-holding-hands/">🧑&zwj;🤝&zwj;🧑 People Holding Hands</a>&nbsp;emoji from late 2019&#39;s <a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>, as well as many different &nbsp;<a href="/kiss/">💏 Kiss</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/couple-with-heart/">💑 Couple with Heart</a> skin tone combinations from late 2020&#39;s <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.

However, this release did not update WhatsApp&#39;s native emoji keyboard to allow for access&nbsp;to these new emojis.

Released 2021-08-18,&nbsp;this update included partial support for <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>, with&nbsp;three&nbsp;new smiley emoji and two new heart emojis.

The update also introduced <a href="/woman-beard/">🧔&zwj;♀️&nbsp;Woman: Beard</a> and updated the design of&nbsp;<a href="/person-beard/">🧔 Person: Beard</a> to be more gender neutral. The update did not, however, provide support for&nbsp;<a href="/man-beard/">🧔&zwj;♂️ Man: Beard</a>&nbsp;or the new variations of&nbsp;<a href="/kiss/">💏&nbsp;Kiss</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/couple-with-heart/">💑&nbsp;Couple with Heart</a>&nbsp;recommended in&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.
