乌贼

A friendly-looking, tentacled space creature with two eyes. Most major platforms style their design after aliens in classic arcade games like <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Invaders">Space Invaders</a>, rendering it purple and pixellated, as if in 8-bit graphics.

Samsung&rsquo;s design resembles an <a href="/zh/%E7%AB%A0%E9%B1%BC/">octopus</a> and <a href="/zh/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/%E5%A4%96%E6%98%9F%E6%80%AA%E7%89%A9/">previously featured</a> a big-brained <a href="/zh/%E5%A4%96%E6%98%9F%E4%BA%BA/">alien</a>, &agrave; la <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cage_(Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series)">Star Trek</a>. Earlier designs from <a href="/zh/google/android-7.0/%E5%A4%96%E6%98%9F%E6%80%AA%E7%89%A9/">Google</a> and <a href="/zh/microsoft/windows-10/%E5%A4%96%E6%98%9F%E6%80%AA%E7%89%A9/">Microsoft</a> depicted more cartoon-like alien monsters.

May be used of topics concerning extraterrestrial life,&nbsp;outer space, gaming, and computing, but also enjoys a range of idiosyncratic applications, such as&nbsp;conveying a&nbsp;sense of weirdness, wackiness, or excitement, given that the emoji looks like it is raising its arms shouting&nbsp;Yay! on many platforms.

A whale, the massive marine mammal. Generally depicted as a light-blue whale in full profile facing left, with its tail curving down towards is huge mouth. Shown with a white, textured underside, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humpback_whale">humpback</a> or&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_whale">blue whale</a>.

Not to be confused with the more cartoon-styled <a href="/zh/%E5%96%B7%E6%B0%B4%E7%9A%84%E9%B2%B8/">🐳 Spouting Whale</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Apple and Google&#39;s whales have slightly open mouths, revealing <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baleen">baleen</a>.

鲸鱼

A common fish, as swims in the water. Depicted as a generic, light-blue fish, often with a white underside, in full profile facing left, with fins and prominent gill cover.

May be used to represent a variety of other fish (freshwater or saltwater), <a href="/zh/%E9%92%93%E9%B1%BC%E7%AB%BF/">fishing</a>, metaphorical senses of fish, and fish as food, as consumed in the form of <a href="/zh/%E5%AF%BF%E5%8F%B8/">🍣 Sushi</a>. May be used to represent <a href="/zh/%E5%8F%8C%E9%B1%BC%E5%BA%A7/">♓ Pisces</a>, the Fish, in the Western zodiac.

<a href="/zh/google/android-7.0/%E7%83%AD%E5%B8%A6%E9%B1%BC/">Google</a> and <a href="/zh/facebook/1.0/%E7%83%AD%E5%B8%A6%E9%B1%BC/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> fish previously resembled a goldfish, while&nbsp;<a href="/zh/samsung/experience-9.0/%E7%83%AD%E5%B8%A6%E9%B1%BC/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a>&nbsp;was black and white.&nbsp;Microsoft&rsquo;s fish was previously&nbsp;<a href="/zh/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/%E7%83%AD%E5%B8%A6%E9%B1%BC/">orange with white stripes</a>, and&nbsp;<a href="/zh/microsoft/windows-10/%E7%83%AD%E5%B8%A6%E9%B1%BC/">yellow and blue</a> before that.

热带鱼

A blowfish (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraodontidae">puffer</a>), which puffs up and becomes spiky when alarmed. Depicted as an orange or brown blowfish in full profile facing left, with small fins, a white underside, and a round, spiky body, as if inflated.

Called <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugu">fugu</a> in Japan, where it&rsquo;s consumed as a delicacy.

河豚

A shark, a large, stealthy fish with many teeth. Generally depicted as a gray shark in full profile facing left, as a&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%B5%B7%E8%B1%9A/">tiger</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_shark">bull</a>, or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_white_shark">great white shark</a> hunting in the water. Shown with a white underside and three gills, its pointed nose and teeth-lined mouth curving down to a sharp dorsal fin and long, pointed tail.

鲨鱼

An octopus, a sea animal with eight legs, known to change color and release&nbsp;ink. Generally depicted as a pink or orange octopus facing forward, with a large, round head, prominent eyes, and its tentacle-like arms raised at its sides. Platforms vary in the number of arms shown, ranging from four to the full eight, with several designs featuring suckers on them.

Twitter&rsquo;s octopus is purple. Apple&rsquo;s has a friendly, cartoon-styled appearance. <a href="/zh/google/android-7.0/%E7%AB%A0%E9%B1%BC/">Google</a> and <a href="/zh/samsung/experience-9.0/%E7%AB%A0%E9%B1%BC/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> octopuses previously looked surprised, while <a href="/zh/microsoft/windows-10/%E7%AB%A0%E9%B1%BC/">Microsoft&#39;s</a>&nbsp;suggested an <a href="/zh/%E5%A4%96%E6%98%9F%E6%80%AA%E7%89%A9/">👾 Alien Monster</a>.

章鱼

A snail, a slow-moving, snail-like <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mollusca">mollusk</a> in a spiraling <a href="/zh/%E6%B5%B7%E8%9E%BA/">shell</a>. Generally depicted as a brown snail in full profile facing left or right, with a brown, textured shell and tentacle-like eyes.

May be used to represent a slug and&nbsp;various senses of slow.

Twitter&rsquo;s snail has a purple body and yellow shell. Microsoft&rsquo;s snail <a href="/zh/microsoft/windows-10/%E8%9C%97%E7%89%9B/">previously</a> had a green body.

蜗牛

A spider, an eight-legged <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnid">arachnid</a> that spins a web. Depicted as a common black spider, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_house_spider">house&nbsp;spider</a>&nbsp;or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_funnel-web_spider">funnel-web spider</a>, often shown from above with its large abdomen oriented at the bottom.

蜘蛛

A scorpion, an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnid">arachnid</a> with <a href="/zh/%E9%BE%99%E8%99%BE/">lobster</a>-like pincers and a stinging tail. Depicted as a light-brown scorpion from above, often facing left, with its pincers and curving stinger raised. Shown with six or, accurately, eight legs in addition to its pincers.

Often used to represent <a href="/zh/%E5%A4%A9%E8%9D%8E%E5%BA%A7/">♏ Scorpio</a> in the Western zodiac.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s scorpion is reddish in color.

蝎子

A flat, shallow, black pan with side handles, containing saffron-colored&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%B1%B3%E9%A5%AD/">rice</a>, vegetables, a leg of&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E5%AE%B6%E7%A6%BD%E7%9A%84%E8%85%BF/">poultry</a>, and/or&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E5%A4%A9%E5%A6%87%E7%BD%97/">shrimp&nbsp;</a>and&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%85%8E%E8%9B%8B/">lemon&nbsp;</a>slices. Commonly associated with&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paella">paella</a>, a traditional dish from&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%97%97-%E8%A5%BF%E7%8F%AD%E7%89%99/" title="🇪🇸 Flag for Spain">Spain</a>. May be used for eating,&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%85%8E%E8%9B%8B/">cooking</a>, dining, and meals more generally.

Apple&#39;s version of this emoji is considered to be <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/apple-fixes-paella-emoji/">representative</a> of the traditional ingredients&nbsp;from Valencia. Samsung <a href="/zh/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/%E8%A3%85%E6%9C%89%E9%A3%9F%E7%89%A9%E7%9A%84%E6%B5%85%E5%BA%95%E9%94%85/">previously displayed</a> this emoji as a Korean hot pot.

A lobster, a large crustacean with a prominent tail and pincers. Depicted as a reddish-orange lobster (as cooked) from above, with a long body and tail, short, tentacle-like eyes, and ten legs, the top of which are very large pincers.

Often used to represent lobster as food as well as in connection to the US state of Maine.

In its release year of 2018, Emojipedia&rsquo;s original sample image was criticized as anatomically incorrect but was shortly after <a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/skateboard-dna-and-lobster-updated/">resolved</a>. That year, the transgender community <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/trans-activists-lobster-emoji-flag-charlie-craggs-unicode-nail-it-a8474476.html">embraced</a> the lobster as a symbol for their efforts for <a href="/zh/%E8%B7%A8%E6%80%A7%E5%88%AB%E6%97%97/">Transgender Flag</a>&nbsp;emoji.

龙虾

A shrimp (prawn), a small crustacean with a long tail. Generally depicted as a reddish-orange shrimp (as cooked) in full profile facing left, with tiny eyes, many limbs, and its long antennae curling back as its long tail curls in.

The Unicode Consortium accepted the following emoji 72 emojis&nbsp;for Unicode 9.0. This update&nbsp;was released&nbsp;on June 21, 2016. Most vendors added support for this update within the 2016 calendar year.&nbsp;<a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/unicode-9-0-released-with-72-new-emojis/">Sample images and more about Unicode 9.0</a>.

<a href="/zh/emoji-4.0/">Emoji 4.0</a> was published in late 2016, which added additional emoji professions.

<h2>New in Unicode 9</h2>

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/zh/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/zh/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in 2014, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms. Note:&nbsp;<a href="/zh/whatsapp/">WhatsApp</a>, <a href="/zh/twitter/">Twitter</a>, and <a href="/zh/facebook/">Facebook</a> have their&nbsp;own emoji designs&nbsp;which are used&nbsp;instead of Google or Samsung emojis in their respective apps on Android devices.

Samsung Emoji List — Emojis for Samsung Galaxy, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z Fold [Updated 2024]

First released in July 2024 for Samsung&#39;s Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 devices, the&nbsp;One UI 6.1.1&nbsp;began its broader rollout in early September 2024.

This update revised the designs of every&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%97%97%E5%B8%9C">🎌 Flag</a> emoji and various emojis from the&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%89%A9%E4%BD%93">💡 Objects</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%AC%A6%E5%8F%B7">💕 Symbols</a>&nbsp;categories.

One UI 6.1.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 28 March 2024, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.1&nbsp;revised a considerable number of previously available emoji designs.

Many emojis had subtle modifications made to their outline, contrast, and shading, including the majority of&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%AC%91%E8%84%B8%E5%92%8C%E4%BA%BA">🧑 People</a> emojis. Meanwhile, many emojis within&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%97%85%E8%A1%8C%E5%92%8C%E5%9C%B0%E7%82%B9">🚀 Travel &amp; Places</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E7%89%A9%E4%BD%93">💡 Objects</a> categories were given more extensive redesigns.&nbsp;

One UI 6.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 30&nbsp;October 2023, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.0&nbsp;featured a completely new design style for the majority of the vendor&#39;s emojis.

All smiley, food, and animal emoji designs have been revised in this update, as have the majority of the people emojis.

This is the most significant revision of the vendor&#39;s emoji set since&nbsp;February 2018&#39;s&nbsp;Experience 9.0 update, which introduced a significant number of design revisions that were consistent with those used on other platforms.

This update also introduced support for the 2023 Emoji 15.1 recommendation list.

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung&#39;s One UI 5.0 provided support for both&nbsp;2021&#39;s <a href="/zh/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and 2022&#39;s <a href="/zh/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for <a href="/zh/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;emojis provided via <a href="/zh/google/">Google&#39;s emoji design set</a>. This was due to Google&#39;s expansion of&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>&nbsp;in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing <a href="/zh/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;designs in Samsung&#39;s emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.

One UI 5.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from&nbsp;mid-January 2022, this small emoji updated changed the design of Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E9%97%AA%E4%BA%AE/">✨ Sparkles</a> emoji to be more consistent&nbsp;with those of other emoji vendors.

Additional devices received this emoji update alongside Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;One UI 4.1 update, which was made widely available in March 2022 after initially debuting with the Galaxy S22 series of devices a month earlier.

Beginning its rollout on&nbsp;2021-11-15 for Samsung&#39;s Galaxy S21 series of mobile devices,&nbsp;Samsung One UI 4.0&nbsp;added support for <a href="/zh/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>.

One UI 4.0

Beginning its rollout in late July 2021 to select Samsung&rsquo;s Galaxy Z devices, One UI 3.1.1 updated a small number of existing emoji designs.

Select devices running Samsung One UI 3.1 were also given this emoji update&nbsp;via a firmware update in August 2021.
