A yellow face with a big grin and scrunched, X-shaped eyes, tilted on its side as if rolling on the floor laughing (the internet acronym ROFL). Sheds&nbsp;two tears and tilts right on most platforms. Often conveys hysterical laughter&nbsp;more intense than <a href="/face-with-tears-of-joy/">😂 Face With Tears of Joy</a>.

Using shown tilted leftwards, though WhatsApp&#39;s design tilts to the right.

Microsoft&#39;s design <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/rolling-on-the-floor-laughing/">previously featured</a> a smiley with hands and feet.

Rolling on the Floor Laughing

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes and a big grin, sticking out its <a href="/tongue/">tongue</a>. Often conveys a sense of fun, excitement, playfulness, hilarity, and happiness, as if saying Squee! or Awesome! 

Similar to <a href="/grinning-squinting-face/">😆&nbsp;Grinning Squinting Face</a>.&nbsp;Generally more exuberant than <a href="/face-with-tongue/">😛&nbsp;Face With Tongue</a> and <a href="/winking-face-with-tongue/">😜&nbsp;Winking Face With Tongue</a>. Samsung <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/squinting-face-with-tongue/">previously featured</a> a more sour expression.

Because of its stuck-out tongue, note that this smiley may be applied or interpreted in suggestive ways.

Face with Stuck-Out Tongue and Tightly-Closed Eyes

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes sneezing or blowing its nose into a white tissue, as if from a cold or allergies. Often depicted with a crumpled-looking mouth.

May also represent someone in an emotional state wiping away tears, as at a <a href="/wedding/">wedding</a>.

Sneezing Face

A classic sad face. A yellow face with&nbsp;simple, open eyes and wide, steep frown. May convey such feelings as moderate concern or disappointment and affectionate sadness, as when missing a loved one. Its sentiment is usually more intense than <a href="/slightly-frowning-face/">🙁&nbsp;Slightly Frowning Face</a>, which has a smaller frown.

This smiley predates Unicode emoji support. In its Unicode name of White Frowning Face, white&nbsp;does not refer to skin tone or ethnicity, although&nbsp;Samsung&rsquo;s <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.0/frowning-face/">early designs</a>&nbsp;colored the face white.&nbsp;See the glossary for the&nbsp;term&nbsp;<a href="/glossary/#white" title="📖 Glossary">white</a>&nbsp;in Unicode character names.

White Frowning Face

A yellow face with small, open eyes, a slight frown, and furrowed eyebrows, from which a single bead of sweat drips, as if from concern or anxiety. Also known as Disappointed but Relieved Face, suggesting the smiley is upset but is grateful things didn&rsquo;t turn out worse.

Commonly conveys mild degrees of frustration and sadness. Not to be confused with <a href="/crying-face/">😢 Crying Face</a>, <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪 Sleepy Face</a>, or other emojis with tear or sweat droplets.

Disappointed but Relieved Face

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes and a crumpled mouth, as if quivering in frustration or holding back tears. May be used to represent being overcome with various emotions, including irritation, frustration, disgust, and sadness,&nbsp;as if to the point of defeat.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Microsoft and Twitter&rsquo;s designs feature&nbsp;eyebrows, Facebook&rsquo;s a purple forehead.

Vendor designs have noticeably evolved over time. <a href="/apple/ios-6.0/confounded-face/">Apple</a> and <a href="/google/android-8.0/confounded-face/">Google&rsquo;s</a> designs previously included eyebrows. Earlier versions <a href="/google/android-7.0/confounded-face/">from Google</a> also displayed a more miserable expression, and <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/confounded-face/">Microsoft</a> a more confused one.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/confounded-face/">previously featured</a> X&rsquo;s for eyes, a flushed nose, and vertical lines over its forehead, shorthands in manga and anime for such feelings as anger and embarrassment.

Confounded Face

A yellow face with closed eyes, furrowed brows, and a broad, open frown, as if distraught to the point of giving up. Usually shown with upper teeth and sometimes tongue.

May convey various feelings&nbsp;of frustration, lust, sadness, amusement, and affection.&nbsp;Often playful in tone.

Similar in appearance and meaning to <a href="/tired-face/">😫&nbsp;Tired Face</a>, but with crescent-shaped eyes. Huawei&#39;s design has its <a href="/tongue">tongue</a> hanging out of its mouth. Samsung&rsquo;s design previously featured large eyes half-closed in tiredness.

This emoji has a cat variant, <a href="/weary-cat/">🙀&nbsp;Weary Cat Face</a>, though it more closely resembles <a href="/face-screaming-in-fear/">😱&nbsp;Face Screaming in Fear</a>.

Weary Face

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes, furrowed eyebrows, and a broad, open frown, as if yawning in exhaustion or groaning in exasperation. Usually shown with upper teeth and sometimes tongue.

While intended to represent tiredness, it commonly conveys various degrees and tones of frustration and sadness as well excitement and affection, as if it just can&rsquo;t handle how great someone or something is.

Similar in appearance and meaning to <a href="/weary-face/">😩 Weary Face</a>, but with scrunched eyes. Not to be confused with <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪 Sleepy Face</a> or <a href="/sleeping-face/">😴 Sleeping Face</a>, which often convey actually being asleep.&nbsp;

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/tired-face/">previously featured</a> three, vertical, blue lines over its forehead, which can indicate fatigue in manga and anime. A <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/tired-face/">previous</a> Microsoft design was <a href="/yawning-face/">yawning</a>.

Tired Face

A yellow face with a frowning mouth and eyes and eyebrows scrunched downward in anger.

Conveys varying&nbsp;degrees of anger, from grumpiness and irritation to disgust and outrage. May also represent someone acting tough or being mean.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-2.0/angry-face/">previously featured</a> a reddish face with clenched teeth and wrinkled chin.&nbsp;Google&rsquo;s design also <a href="/google/android-9.0/angry-face/">previously featured</a>&nbsp;a reddish face, while Facebook&rsquo;s and Microsoft&#39;s <a href="/facebook/3.0/angry-face/">earlier</a> <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/angry-face/">designs</a>&nbsp;had&nbsp;clenched teeth.

Released on 5 March 2024 for iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4, this was the first version of iOS to support the 118 new emojis in <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a>, including various direction-specific people emojis.

Released on 2021-05-24, this update changed the appearance&nbsp;of the various&nbsp;<a href="/person-climbing/">🧗 Person Climbing</a> emojis to have the person wearing a safety helmet.

iOS 14.6

New emojis from Apple for 2021 available as part of&nbsp;iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, tvOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, and macOS 11.3.

This Apple emoji update changed the appearance of the&nbsp;<a href="/syringe/">💉&nbsp;Syringe</a>&nbsp;emoji&nbsp;to remove the blood, and added mixed skin tone support to&nbsp;<a href="/kiss/">💏&nbsp;Kiss</a> and <a href="/couple-with-heart/">💑&nbsp;Couple with Heart</a>.
