The Unicode Consortium accepted the following emoji 72 emojis&nbsp;for Unicode 9.0. This update&nbsp;was released&nbsp;on June 21, 2016. Facebook&nbsp;emojis appear for users of the Facebook&nbsp;website, Facebook Android app, Messenger for web, Messenger for Android, and Instagram direct messages on web. Facebook apps for&nbsp;iOS&nbsp;use native emojis for their respective platform&nbsp;instead of Facebook&#39;s own emoji images.

In March 2020, Facebook <a href="https://twitter.com/alexvoica/status/1251090864878821377">added</a> a&nbsp;Care&nbsp;emoji reaction as an additional option in response to <a href="/coronavirus/">COVID-19</a>. This is displayed similarly to&nbsp;a <a href="/hugging-face/">hugging face</a> holding a <a href="/red-heart/">red love heart</a>.
