Loudly Crying Face

A yellow face with a big&nbsp;grin, uplifted eyebrows, and smiling eyes, each shedding a tear from laughing so hard. Widely used to show something is funny or pleasing.&nbsp;

Briefly <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/loudly-crying-becomes-top-tier-emoji/">overtaken</a> as the top emoji on <a href="/twitter/">Twitter</a> in 2021 by&nbsp;<a href="/loudly-crying-face/">😭 Loudly Crying Face</a>, though as of January 2022 it has <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/tears-of-joy-just-about-returns-as-twitters-top-emoji/">reclaimed its top position on the platform</a>.

Microsoft&#39;s design <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/rolling-on-the-floor-laughing/">previously featured</a> a smiley with hands and feet.&nbsp;

Rolling on the Floor Laughing

A vampire shown wearing a dark cape, and with pointed fangs. This emoji supports skin tones, and variations that are <a href="/woman-vampire/">female</a> or <a href="/man-vampire/">male</a>.

Vampire

Has the same grin and eyes as&nbsp;<a href="/grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes/">😄 Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes</a>&nbsp;but with a single, blue bead of sweat, usually over its left eye. Intended to depict nerves or discomfort but commonly used to express a close call, as if saying Whew! and wiping sweat from the forehead.&nbsp;

Smiling Face with Open Mouth and Cold Sweat

A heart shaded completely black. May be used to express morbidity, sorrow, or a form of dark humor, but despite the color remains <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">most commonly used for love and affection</a>.

Black Heart

A classic smiley, turned upside down. Implemented as a flipped version of&nbsp;<a href="/slightly-smiling-face/">🙂 Slightly Smiling Face</a>&nbsp;on most platforms.

Commonly used to convey&nbsp;irony, sarcasm, joking, or a sense of goofiness or silliness.&nbsp;Its intent can be&nbsp;similar to the bemused Oh well! of <a href="/person-shrugging/">🤷&nbsp;Person Shrugging</a> or the shruggie emoticon, &macr;\_(ツ)_/&macr;.

Two parallel lengths of silver chain. Occasionally used as an icon before a <a href="/link/">hyperlink</a> or for metaphorical connections or chains, e.g., slang&nbsp;off the chains.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/chains/">previously featured</a> stylized, white chains in a blue square, as a sign or icon for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_chains">snow chains</a> for winter driving.

Chains

An orange pumpkin carved into the shape of a face and commonly known as a Jack-o&rsquo;-lantern. See also <a href="/halloween/" title="🎃 Halloween">Halloween</a>.

Jack-O-Lantern

A&nbsp;reanimated human, often found in works of horror fiction. May have a <a href="/woman-zombie/">female</a> or <a href="/man-zombie/">male</a> appearance.

Zombie

An ancient scroll, unrolled to reveal text on <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papyrus">papyrus</a> or parchment paper. May be used to represent the study of history or official documents, such as a diploma.

A green troll, usually shown holding a club.

May be used to refer to the fantasy creature. May also be used to refer to an internet troll or the act of trolling.

Apple&rsquo;s troll holds a scepter instead of a club. Microsoft, Twitter, and WhatsApp&#39;s designs&nbsp;show only the bust of a troll instead of the&nbsp;full-bodied creature.

Troll

A headstone or tombstone, used to mark graves. Appearance varies from platform to platform, with different shapes and inscriptions.

Used to talk about death &mdash; literally, metaphorically, and metaphysically.

Often paired with other death-related emoji like <a href="/coffin/">⚰️ Coffin</a> and <a href="/skull-and-crossbones/">☠️ Skull and Crossbones</a>.

Headstone

A red drop of blood.&nbsp;May be used to talk about bleeding, injury,&nbsp;blood donation, or&nbsp;menstruation.

Drop of Blood

A traditional coffin, as used to bury the dead. Depicted at various angles as a closed, six-sided, wooden coffin, tapered at the head and foot with golden handles.

Commonly used for various content concerning literal and figurative death. May also be used for various content concerning funerals, horror, and <a href="/halloween/">Halloween</a>.
