Flags

A decorative symbol that appears like a golden flower, but found in all manner of logos, symbols, and patterns. This symbol forms part of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Scout_Emblem">World Scout Emblem</a>, amongst other uses.

Fleur-de-lis

A decorative heart that generally displays as a white heart-shaped cutout in a pink or purple roundrect.

Google <a href="/google/android-7.0/heart-decoration/">previously</a> displayed a pink heart with yellow dots around it, Samsung&rsquo;s was a <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/heart-decoration/">pink patterned heart</a>, and Microsoft&rsquo;s had corner&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10-anniversary-update/heart-decoration/">stitches</a>.

Heart Decoration

A decorative&nbsp;<a href="/exclamation-mark/" title=" ❗ Heavy Exclamation Mark Symbol">exclamation mark</a>, where a heart forms the top part of the symbol, and a circle the lower part. Similar to the way to the <a href="/person-in-suit-levitating/" title=" 🕴 Man in Business Suit Levitating">man in business suit levitating</a>&nbsp;also creates a similar shape.

Heavy Heart Exclamation Mark Ornament

A yellow or gold colored heart,&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">frequently used alongside other colored hearts</a>.&nbsp;

Amusingly, this emoji displayed as a pink <a href="/google/android-4.4/yellow-heart/" title="💛 Yellow Heart on Google Android 4.4">hairy heart</a>&nbsp;on Android 4.4. It has been suggested that this visual oddity was created following a&nbsp;misinterpretation of Unicode&#39;s black-and-white reference images.

As with the other color-based hearts, this emoji is often also used to express an affinity with or appreciation for various people, places, groups, objects, or ideas associated with the same color.

On&nbsp;<a href="/snapchat/" title="👻 Snapchat Emoji &amp; Emoticon Meanings">Snapchat</a>,&nbsp;this&nbsp;emoji next to a contact&nbsp;denotes a person that you snap the most, and who also snaps you the most (#1 best friend). The yellow #1 BF heart turns into a <a href="/red-heart/" title="❤️ Heavy Black Heart">red heart</a> after two weeks.

Yellow Heart

A stylized white flower. Generally depicted as a <a href="/rosette/">rosette</a>-shaped <a href="/cherry-blossom/">cherry blossom</a> in pink or red outline, often with a white fill.

Apple, Microsoft, WhatsApp, and Facebook&#39;s designs feature Japanese characters roughly translating to&nbsp;very well done, used by teachers as a stamp for students who did exceptional work, often accompanied by a <a href="/hundred-points/">score in red</a>.

Commonly used for <a href="/valentines-day/">Valentine&rsquo;s Day</a>, <a href="/mothers-day/">Mother&rsquo;s Day</a>, and other special occasions. May be more generally used to express such ideas as love, happiness, and beauty.&nbsp;Also used as a pink, white, or red&nbsp;accent color.

Not to be confused with <a href="/cherry-blossom/">🌸 Cherry Blossom</a>&nbsp;and <a href="/hibiscus/">🌺 Hibiscus</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Apple&#39;s flower <a href="/apple/ios-10.2/white-flower/">previously</a> featured a red-outlined design, <a href="/google/android-5.0/white-flower/">Google&#39;s</a> an orange outline. <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/white-flower/">Microsoft&#39;s</a> flower was previously black and white, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/white-flower/">Samsung</a> and <a href="/facebook/2.0/white-flower/">Facebook&#39;s</a> pink and white.

White Flower

A rosette, a stylized, flower-shaped <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosette_(design)">decoration</a>&nbsp;often presented as an award with a ribbon or <a href="/military-medal/">(military) medal</a>. Appears&nbsp;as a motif in&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosette_(design)">ancient cultures</a>. Generally depicted as a circular, yellow-and-orange flower.

Commonly used for <a href="/valentines-day/">Valentine&rsquo;s Day</a>, <a href="/mothers-day/">Mother&rsquo;s Day</a>, and other special occasions. May be more generally used to express such ideas as love, happiness, and beauty.&nbsp;Also used as a yellow accent color.

WhatsApp&#39;s rosette is orange, white, and purple; Twitter&#39;s is purple and blue. Samsung&#39;s was <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/rosette/">previously</a> pink. A non-emoji Unicode character&nbsp;<a href="/black-rosette/">🏶&nbsp;Black Rosette</a> was once shown as an emoji on LG phones.

Rosette

A sunflower, a tall, round&nbsp;flower with large yellow petals. Depicted as a single, vertical sunflower with a large, dark-brown center on a green stem.

Commonly used for <a href="/mothers-day/">Mother&rsquo;s Day</a>&nbsp;and other special occasions. May be more generally used to convey such sentiments happiness and love. Also used as a yellow accent color and in association with summer and farming.

Not to be confused with <a href="/blossom/">🌼 Blossom</a>, which is yellow on many platforms.

Sunflower

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamrock">shamrock</a>, a clover-like plant. Depicted as a bright green sprig with three, heart-shaped leaves.

An emblem of <a href="/flag-ireland/">Ireland</a> and symbol of St. Patrick, said to use the shamrock to explain the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity. Commonly used on <a href="/st-patricks-day/">St. Patrick&rsquo;s Day</a> and in association with Irish culture and heritage.

Not to be confused with <a href="/four-leaf-clover/">🍀 Four Leaf Clover</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Shamrock

A club symbol emoji, which is used in card games for the clubs&nbsp;suit.

Apple&#39;s design <a href="/apple/ios-5.1/club-suit/">previously</a> displayed the black spade symbol on a white playing card.

Black Club Suit

A gold crown with jewels on the sides. Representative of a King, Queen, or other form of Royalty.

Crown

An old-fashioned key, as opens an antique chest or wardrobe. Generally depicted at a 45&deg; angle as a tarnished, silver <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeleton_key">skeleton key</a> with an ornate, bowed head and two-toothed <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_(key)">bit</a> at the bottom left.

Like <a href="/key/">🔑 Key</a>, often used figuratively, e.g., the key to success, being key&nbsp;(&quot;crucial&quot;). May also be applied to antiques.

Microsoft&rsquo;s design is gold, with the head at the upper left. <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/old-key/">Samsung</a> and <a href="/facebook/2.0/old-key/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> keys were previously gold.

Old Key

A symbol used to represent the atom and its associated sciences, showing lines representing electrons orbiting around a circular nucleus where protons are located.

Atom Symbol

A circular symbol, commonly used as a&nbsp;representation of peace. Alternatives include the <a href="/victory-hand/" title=" ✌️ Victory Hand">Victory Hand</a>, or the <a href="/dove/" title=" 🕊 Dove of Peace">Dove of Peace</a>.

Peace Symbol

A yellow and green shield symbol, called a&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoshinsha_mark">Shoshinsha Mark</a>. Must be displayed by drivers in Japan for one year after they receive their drivers licence.

Similar to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L-plate">L-Plates</a>&nbsp;used to identify learner drivers in other countries.

Emojis from Microsoft are&nbsp;supported on PCs and tablets&nbsp;running Windows 11, Windows 10, as well as Xbox. There were also available on Windows phones prior to them being&nbsp;discontinued. These are provided by the Segoe UI Emoji font, although some applications continue to show black and white emojis from an earlier release.

As of the <a href="/microsoft/windows-11-november-2021-update/">Windows 11&nbsp;November 2021 </a>update, the platform includes the <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/new-fluent-emoji-designs-from-microsoft/">new Fluent emoji design set</a>&nbsp;that was first previewed ahead of 2021&#39;s <a href="/world-emoji-day/">World Emoji Day</a>. Windows 10&#39;s last emoji update was the&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10-may-2019-update/">May 2019 Update</a>, which supported emoji from up to early 2019&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-12.0/">Emoji 12.0</a>.

Microsoft Emoji List — Emojis for Windows 11, Windows 10 and Xbox

Beginning its global rollout on 2024-06-25, this Windows11 23H2 update (KB5039302 - OS Builds 22621.3810 and 22631.3810)&nbsp;introduced support for <a href="/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> to both the flat and 3D versions of the Fluent emoji design set.

Windows 11 23H2 June 2024 Update

Beginning its global rollout on 2023-10-31, the Windows11 23H2 update introduced support for <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;to the flat versions of the&nbsp;Fluent emoji design set used by the OS since its <a href="https://emojipedia.org/microsoft/windows-11-november-2021-update">November 2021</a> update.

This update also redesigned a selection of emojis within the flat Fluent set. These redesigns include many smiley emojis&nbsp;having the size and positioning of their dotted black pupils subtly modified, the&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/folded-hands">🙏 Folded Hands</a> being shown&nbsp;isometrically, the <a href="https://emojipedia.org/alien">👽 Alien</a> changed from grey to green once again, and the previously atypical width of the vendor&#39;s four-person family emoji designs&nbsp;being revised.

Additionally, a bug appears to have swapped the designs of the various&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/deaf-man">🧏&zwj;♂️ Deaf Man</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/deaf-woman">🧏&zwj;♀️ Deaf Woman</a> emojis.

Windows 11 23H2

Beginning its rollout on 2022-09-20, Window 11&#39;s 22H2 update introduced support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> emojis such as <a href="/melting-face/">🫠 Melting Face</a>, <a href="/saluting-face/">🫡 Saluting Face</a>, and <a href="/heart-hands/">🫶 Heart Hands</a>.

This update also revised a number of previous-released emoji designs.&nbsp;Notably, the colored heart emojis such as&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/red-heart/">❤️ Red Heart</a> were given additional details.

Additionally, each of the hand gesutre and people emojis without a skin tone modifier were given a revised base skin tone color.

Windows 11 22H2

Beginning its rollout on 2021-11-22, Window 11&#39;s November 2021 update redesigned all of Microsoft&#39;s emojis, officially launching the <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2021/11/22/express-yourself-with-new-emoji-now-available-in-windows-11/">2D incarnation</a> of the platform&#39;s Fluent&nbsp;emoji set. The&nbsp;Fluent&nbsp;redesign was <a href="https://medium.com/microsoft-design/emotionality-at-work-398182387adc">first&nbsp;previewed</a> ahead of <a href="https://worldemojiday.com/">World Emoji Day</a> 2021.

This update was the first to support <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a>&nbsp;recommendations such as&nbsp;<a href="/heart-on-fire/">❤️&zwj;🔥 Heart on Fire</a>&nbsp;and <a href="/face-in-clouds/">😶&zwj;🌫️ Face in Clouds</a> on Windows.

Windows 11 November 2021 Update

Microsoft Windows 11&nbsp;launched&nbsp;on 2021-10-05, and was the first version of Windows update to support&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/emoji-13.0/">Emoji 13.0</a>. Emojis in this release are displayed in the thick outlined&nbsp;Segoe Color Emoji&nbsp;style from Windows 10, instead of the <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/new-fluent-emoji-designs-from-microsoft/">Fluent designs</a> previewed ahead of <a href="https://worldemojiday.com/">World Emoji Day 2021</a>.

Support for <a href="/emoji-12.1/">Emoji 12.1</a>&nbsp;and <a href="/emoji-13.0/">Emoji 13.0</a>&nbsp;was initially made available via Windows 10 Insiders Builds <a href="https://twitter.com/Emojipedia/status/1337183890063187971">in December 2020</a>.
