Woman Guard

The male version of the <a href="/guard/">💂&nbsp;Guardsman</a> emoji.&nbsp;Currently identical in appearance to the non-gendered base emoji.

Man Guard

A shield, as blocks swords in close combat. Color and style varies across platforms, but generally depicted in a <a href="/kite/">kite</a> shape with a metal border and simple pattern.

Commonly used to represent various content concerning battle, defense, security, and protection.

Apple and Microsoft&rsquo;s designs feature a red and white sawtooth pattern, Facebook and WhatsApp&rsquo;s blue and white checkers.

Shield

A <a href="/flag-united-kingdom/" title="🇬🇧 Flag For Great Britain">British</a> guardsman, known as a foot guard. Wears a tall black hat with a yellow chin-strap. Must look straight ahead at all times, even when tourists attempt to distract them.

Guardsman

A squirt gun (water pistol), as used to <a href="/sweat-droplets/">spray water</a> for fun.

On major platforms, depicted as a green or orange toy gun with an orange tip and barrel pointed left.&nbsp;Google&nbsp;and Facebook&rsquo;s designs include mounted reservoirs.

Originally depicted as a classic handgun, as a revolver or other pistol. In 2016, <a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/apple-and-the-gun-emoji/">Apple switched its design</a> from weapon&nbsp;to toy; other major vendors followed suit by 2018. Deprecated emoji sets or smaller platforms still display the emoji as a handgun.

Pistol

Two swords with steel blades in an X shape, as crossed for combat between two knights or warriors. Generally depicted as straight, double-edged blades with brown or black, cross-shaped hilts, points directed up.&nbsp;Commonly used as a symbol for battle, fighting, or a contest, as in sports.

Sometimes shown with golden handles. The Unicode Consortium approved the following characters as part of <a href="http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode7.0.0/">Unicode 7.0</a>, released on June 16, 2014.&nbsp;Support for these emoji characters rely on updates from platform vendors such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft.

Initially, 250&nbsp;new characters in Unicode 7.0 were approved for emoji presentation, however this was later reduced to 103 Standard Additions which are listed below. The other characters remain part of Unicode, but are not recommended&nbsp;to be included as emojis.

The exception to this was the <a href="/left-speech-bubble/" title="🗨 Left Speech Bubble">Left Speech Bubble</a>, and as such wasn&#39;t initially specified on other platforms as an emoji.
