This is a combination of type 1&nbsp;(pale white) and type 2 (white). Despite the descriptions, Apple&rsquo;s artwork tends to display this type-1-2 skin tone modifier with dark hair.

Zero Width Joiner (ZWJ) is a Unicode character that joins two or more other characters together in sequence to create a new emoji.

Zero Width Joiner, pronounced &quot;zwidge&quot;, is not an emoji and has no appearance by itself. This&nbsp;is an invisible character when used alone.

Zero Width Joiner

A classic red love heart emoji.

The red heart ideograph&nbsp;is traditionally used for expressions of love and romance across many cultures, with this being amongst the most frequence use cases for this emoji.

However, the Red Heart emoji is also often used to express non-romantic positive sentiments, in part thanks to its use as one of the default reaction emoji options across many social messaging platforms (e.g. <a href="/instagram">Instagram</a>, <a href="/slack">Slack</a>, <a href="/whatsapp">WhatsApp</a>).

Additionally, as with the other color-based hearts, this emoji is often also used to express an affinity with or appreciation for various people, places, groups, objects, or ideas associated with the same color.

This is historically&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">the most popular heart emoji</a>&nbsp;by a considerable distance and is amongst the most popular emojis of all time.&nbsp;

A similar&nbsp;emoji exists&nbsp;for the&nbsp;<a href="/heart-suit/" title="♥️️ Heart Suit">heart suit</a> in a deck of playing cards.

On <a href="/snapchat/" title="👻 Snapchat Emoji Meanings">Snapchat</a>, this emoji displays next to a friend&nbsp;when you have been #1 BFs with each other for two consecutive weeks.

Samsung devices use <a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-emoji-suite-makes-for-a-more-emotional-digital-world">their own emoji designs</a>&nbsp;which are different to those used on other <a href="/google/">Android devices</a>. These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-2.0">2014</a>, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms. Samsung Emoji List — Emojis for Samsung Galaxy, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z Fold [Updated 2024]

First released in July 2024 for Samsung&#39;s Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 devices, the&nbsp;One UI 6.1.1&nbsp;began its broader rollout in early September 2024.

This update revised the designs of every&nbsp;<a href="/flags">🎌 Flag</a> emoji and various emojis from the&nbsp;<a href="/objects">💡 Objects</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/symbols">💕 Symbols</a>&nbsp;categories.

One UI 6.1.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 28 March 2024, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.1&nbsp;revised a considerable number of previously available emoji designs.

Many emojis had subtle modifications made to their outline, contrast, and shading, including the majority of&nbsp;<a href="/people">🧑 People</a> emojis. Meanwhile, many emojis within&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="/travel-places">🚀 Travel &amp; Places</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/objects">💡 Objects</a> categories were given more extensive redesigns.&nbsp;

One UI 6.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 30&nbsp;October 2023, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.0&nbsp;featured a completely new design style for the majority of the vendor&#39;s emojis.

All smiley, food, and animal emoji designs have been revised in this update, as have the majority of the people emojis.

This is the most significant revision of the vendor&#39;s emoji set since&nbsp;February 2018&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/samsung/experience-9.0">Experience 9.0</a> update, which introduced a significant number of design revisions that were consistent with those used on other platforms.

This update also introduced support for the 2023 <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendation list.

One UI 6.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung&#39;s One UI 5.0 provided support for both&nbsp;2021&#39;s <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and 2022&#39;s <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;emojis provided via <a href="/google/">Google&#39;s emoji design set</a>. This was due to Google&#39;s expansion of&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>&nbsp;in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;designs in Samsung&#39;s emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.

One UI 5.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from&nbsp;mid-January 2022, this small emoji updated changed the design of Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="/sparkles/">✨ Sparkles</a> emoji to be more consistent&nbsp;with those of other emoji vendors.

Additional devices received this emoji update alongside Samsung&#39;s&nbsp;One UI 4.1 update, which was made widely available in March 2022 after initially debuting with the Galaxy S22 series of devices a month earlier.

One UI 4.0 January 2022

The 3D Microsoft Fluent emojis are glossy, gradient-heavy versions of the Microsoft Fluent emoji designs used within <a href="/microsoft">Windows 11</a>.

These 3D Fluent designs can be found within select flagship Microsoft applications such as Word and PowerPoint following the launch of <a href="https://emojipedia.org/microsoft/windows-11-23H2">Windows 23H2</a> on 31 October 2023. They are also used within <a href="/mozilla">Mozilla Firefox</a> on Microsoft devices.

These designs are implemented via Microsoft&rsquo;s COLRv1 color font.

Originally <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/microsoft-teams-3d-fluent-emojis/">previewed</a> ahead of <a href="https://emojipedia.org/world-emoji-day">World Emoji Day</a> 2021, the 3D Fluent emoji set first made its official debut within the emoji keyboard of <a href="https://emojipedia.org/microsoft-teams">Microsoft Teams</a> in February 2022. At the time of launch over 800 3D Fluent designs also featured animation within the communication platform.

A flat block-color version of the Fluent emoji set has been used as the default font for Microsoft devices since <a href="https://emojipedia.org/microsoft/windows-11-november-2021-update">November 2021</a>. Those designs will continue to be the default emoji design displayed by the Segoe UI Emoji font within the&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/microsoft/windows-11-23H2">Windows 23H2</a> update.
