A water closet is a name used for public toilet, bathroom or restroom used in some countries. Typically abbreviated to the letters WC, this may be found on signage in public buildings, as an alternative to the <a title="🚻 Restroom" href="/restroom/">restroom</a> symbol.

Water Closet

A gender-unspecified&nbsp;person taking a soothing bath in a white tub with a <a href="/shower/">shower</a> head.&nbsp;Commonly used for various content concerning bathing, washing, cleaning, and bathrooms more generally. May also represent relaxation and self-care.

The appearance of the person, depicted in default yellow, varies. Apple&#39;s person is wearing a green shower cap, WhatsApp&#39;s a green washcloth. Google&rsquo;s person appears to be playing in a bubble bath, with <a href="/soap/">soapsuds</a> atop their ahead.&nbsp;Other major vendors show the head of the bather with short, brown or blonde&nbsp;hair.&nbsp;Skin tone modifiers are available on supported platforms.

Vendors implement the same or a similar tub and shower head as for their <a href="/bathtub/">🛁&nbsp;Bathtub</a>, but with a person taking/having a bath.

Bath

A single, light blue droplet, as of water, sweat, or tears.

May be used for various types of liquid. May also be used to expression sadness, as in <a href="/crying-face/">😢 Crying Face</a>,&nbsp;or for various liquid-based slang expressions (e.g., drip, &ldquo;exceptional style, swagger&quot;).

Not to be confused with <a href="/sweat-droplets/">💦 Sweat Droplets</a>, though their applications may overlap.

Droplet

A white toilet, as used to deposit a <a href="/pile-of-poo/">💩&nbsp;Pile of Poo</a>. (Don&rsquo;t forget the <a href="/roll-of-paper/">🧻&nbsp;Roll of Paper</a>.) Most platforms depict a porcelain toilet in profile, bowl facing to the left.

Commonly used for various content concerning going to the bathroom or bathrooms more generally. May also be used figuratively, e.g., down the toilet.

Google, Microsoft, and Twitter&rsquo;s designs left the seat up.

Toilet

A toilet plunger with a wooden handle and red flange and cup.

Used to talk about toilets and clogged pipes. Also used metaphorically to talk about a mess or something that&#39;s disgusting.

Shower

Several platforms, including Apple and Facebook, feature <a href="/soap/">soap</a> bubbles or suds. Samsung&rsquo;s design displays streaming water from the shower head.

Vendors implement <a href="/person-taking-bath/">🛀&nbsp;Person Taking a Bath</a> with the same or a similar emoji, but with a person soaking in the tub.

Bathtub

A roll of paper, as toilet paper (toilet tissue). May also be a roll of kitchen/paper towels. Depicted at various angles, with a sheet unfurling.

Commonly used for toilet paper but may also be used for various content concerning <a href="/toilet/">toilets</a>, going to the bathroom, bathrooms, cleaning, or paper more generally.

Roll of Paper

A blue or green bucket or pail. Used to talk about real or metaphorical buckets.

May be used to talk about bucket lists, kicking the bucket, making baskets in basketball, an abundance of something (like rain or money),&nbsp;and many other contexts.

Bucket

A bar of soap, as used in the <a href="/shower/">shower</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/bathtub/">bath</a>&nbsp;or for hand washing.&nbsp;Generally shown with lathered bubbles. Depicted in various colors, often pink, and at different angles.

Commonly used for various content concerning bathing, washing, and cleaning.&nbsp;May be used to represent the opposite of dirt or being dirty.&nbsp;Recommended for use to <a href="/coronavirus/">prevent the spread of COVID-19</a>.

An increased resolution and a number of design changes. This was the first release to switch the <a href="/person-tipping-hand/">💁&nbsp;Person Tipping Hand</a> (nee Information Desk Person) from a <a href="/softbank/2001/person-tipping-hand/">Man</a> to a <a href="/softbank/2004/person-tipping-hand/">Woman</a>, and many emojis were redesigned with additional detail.

Changes in this release include an increased pixel count for each emoji, resulting in more detail and smoother curves and gradients.
