<p>A fist raised in the air that may be used as a celebratory gesture: the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fist_pump">fist pump</a>.&nbsp;Can also be used to represent <a href="/keycap-digit-zero/" title="0⃣ Keycap 0">zero</a> items, due to a lack of any fingers being held up.</p>

<p>Sometimes used as a symbol of&nbsp;<a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/the-resistance-will-be-emojified/">resistance</a>&nbsp;or defiance. Variations with darker skin tone are commonly used <a href="/raised-fist-dark-skin-tone/">to represent the #BlackLivesMatter movement</a>.</p>

<p>The Unicode Consortium accepted the following emoji 72 emojis&nbsp;for Unicode 9.0. This update&nbsp;was released&nbsp;on June 21, 2016. Most vendors added support for this update within the 2016 calendar year.&nbsp;<a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/unicode-9-0-released-with-72-new-emojis/">Sample images and more about Unicode 9.0</a>.</p>

<p><a href="/emoji-4.0/">Emoji 4.0</a> was published in late 2016, which added additional emoji professions.</p>

<h2>New in Unicode 9</h2>

<p>South Korean financial technology company Toss (토스) provides its own emoji design set within its mobile application. The design set, entitled Toss Face (토스페이스), has also been made available as a free font file for Apple devices.</p>

<p>First launched in early 2022, the Toss Face emoji set originally included a series of intentionally divergent emoji designs compared to those of other vendors.</p>

<p>The majority of these divergent designs followed two broad themes. Firstly,&nbsp;rendering culturally-specific Japanese emojis with designs representing related South Korean concepts (e.g. the <a href="/sake/">🍶 Sake</a> emoji appearing as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makgeolli">makgeolli</a>).</p>

<p>Secondly, emojis&nbsp;representing older technologies with designs representing more contemporary innovations. (e.g. <a href="/pager/">📟 Pager</a> displaying as instant messaging speech bubbles; <a href="/auto-rickshaw/">🛺 Auto Rickshaw</a> being displyed as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unmanned_aerial_vehicle">drone</a>).</p>

<p>In March 2022 these divergent designs were updated to accurately reflect Unicode&#39;s recommendations. In April 2022 they were re-added to the Toss app using <a href="https://emojipedia.org/glossary/">Private Use Area</a> codepoints.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The latest Toss Face emoji set supports emojis up to late 2021&#39;s <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.</p>

Fintech app Toss (토스) emoji designs and design history

<p>Released 2022-08-16, this Toss Face emoji update&nbsp;added support for <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and updated several existing emoji designs&nbsp;to better match those of other vendors.</p>

<p>The update also re-introduced a series of&nbsp;Korean-oriented and future-oriented emoji designs to the Toss Face emoji set via <a href="https://emojipedia.org/glossary/#pua">Private User Area</a> characters.</p>

<p>Released 2022-03-28, this update to the Toss Face emoji set changed a series of previously divergent emoji designs&nbsp;to accurately reflect Unicode&#39;s&nbsp;recommendations.</p>

March 2022

<p>Released 2022-02-28, the original version of Toss&#39; Toss Face emoji set provided support for emojis up to late 2020&#39;s <a href="/emoji-13.1/">Emoji 13.1</a> recommendations.</p>

<p>A variety of emojis were given intentionally divergent designs in the emoji set&#39;s initial release.&nbsp;These divergent designs followed two major&nbsp;themes: rendering culturally-specific Japanese emojis with designs representing related South Korean concepts, and having select emojis represent contemporary technologies instead of their recommended concepts.</p>
